Founded in October 2005, Renault India is a fully owned subsidiary of Renault S.A, France. The models currently on sale in India from the French automaker include the Duster, Lodgy, Kwid, and Captur. Upcoming Renault Cars in India – Renault Duster 2018
Expected to launch in early 2019, Renault India will be bringing in an all-new version of their star compact SUV, the Duster. Sold under the Dacia brand globally, it enjoys the fame of kickstarting the Compact-SUV segment in the country before other more successful manufacturers. The all-new Renault Duster will share more or less, similar proportions as the existing Duster in India. The difference will primarily be noticeable in the way the new model looks.
With plush interiors and great features, the new Duster is set to carry further the legacy of the SUV in India. The exterior changes on the new Duster will include restyled headlamps with daytime running LED lights, a revised grille and a fresh bumper. The sides and the rear on the new Duster will get some alteration like plastic cladding on the wheel arcs, restyled tail lamps and rear bumper. The new Renault Duster will get 5 brand new engine variants out of which two will be diesel options. Both the powertrains will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission with optional CVT and EDC automatic options. 4-wheel drive will also be present as an option for certain variants.
Since the engines will have similar cubic capacities and power outputs, the fuel efficiency on the new version will also most likely remain the same, i.e 21 kmpl (approx.) on the diesel engine and 14 kmpl (approx.) on the petrol variant.
Upcoming Renault Cars in India – Renault Kwid EV
Expected to launch in 2020, Renault India may bring the electric version of their hugely successful budget hatchback in India. When launched, the French automaker Renault will face competition from other electric passenger vehicles in India from the likes of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. and Tata Motors Ltd.
The new Kwid EV is also expected to be launched in China. This will be the first time when a particular product designed and developed in India by a global vehicle manufacturer will be launched in a developed market. Renault will be the second carmaker after the tie-up of Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation which are expected to launch an electric small car in India after 2020.
Upcoming Renault Cars in India – Renault Kwid MPV
Expected to be launched by the end of 2018, the all-new Renault Kwid MPV will be a much-needed update to the hugely successful hatchback variant on the Indian subcontinent.
The new Kwid will sport redesigned quarter panels and interiors. The dimensions of the new Kwid are sure to change as the new third row will be incorporated in the MPV variant.
The upgraded version of Kwid will feature the 999 cc 3-cylinder petrol engine with a power output of 68 PS at 5500 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 4250 rpm available in the existing model.
Expected to be a front wheel drive, the transmission on the Kwid MPV will be a 5-speed manual with an option of an automated gear shift mechanism.
The interiors on the new Kwid will sport a dual tone scheme, a multifunctional instrument cluster, and a spacious glove box. The second-row seats will have a split fold/ slide mechanism and the third row will have either opposite-facing bucket seats or front-facing seats for two occupants with a foldable backrest for flexibility of luggage space.
In terms of exterior changes, the new Kwid MPV will have a chrome surround radiator grille, body coloured ORVMs with integrated indicators, body-coloured door handles and the new set of wheels. At the rear, the wide opening tailgate with easy accessibility to the luggage space, the new tail lamps with roof-mounted stop lamps and the MPV badging in chrome would give it a distinctive stance.
Upcoming Renault Cars in India – Renault Scenic
Expected to launch sometime in 2019, Renault is set to bring another MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) to the Indian roads.
Launched way back in 1996 for the European market, the all-new Renault Scenic MUV will come with a 2.0-litre dCi diesel engine that puts out a peak power of 148 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. Mated to this engine will be a six-speed manual and an optional automatic transmission for the Indian market.
In terms of exterior styling, the front fascia will feature swept back headlamps, a well-designed grille, and bulges on the bonnet. The front bumper will include integrated fog lamps and large wheel arches. The roof strakes flow elegantly from the A-pillar to C-pillar. Body coloured ORVMs and door handles help in improving the overall modern look. Stylishly designed alloy wheels will surely add to that final sporty touch.
The interiors of the new Renault scenic MUV will feature multifunctional instrument panel with dual tone finish and premium upholstery.
The petrol version is expected to deliver a mileage of 12-13 kmpl while diesel variants will give out around 17-18 kmpl.
