The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most celebrated nameplates in the country. The family hatchback will soon hit the showroom floors in its new generation avatar. The fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to launch in India on May 9, 2024. The new-gen Swift will get substantial changes, over its outgoing counterpart, and here’s all about it.

Aesthetics have always been the Maruti Suzuki Swift’s USP, and the new-gen model will lure consumers with its design. Since the fourth-gen Swift is already revealed internationally, a lot is known about its styling. It embodies sporty characteristics in its design and silhouette. The new-gen Swift features completely revamped styling, but the change is evolutionary - it cannot be mistaken for anything else on the road. Distinctions, in terms of changes, include an all-new bumper with a piano-black hexagonal grille, upswept headlamps, and redesigned alloy wheels. Around the rear fascia, it gets new tail lamps and a dual-tone bumper. The rear door handles now take a rather conventional route, unlike the outgoing model. Dimensionally, the 2024 Swift is 30 mm taller and 15 mm longer than the current-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift.

In international markets, the Swift gets an all-new Z12E 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol motor. It is coupled to a 12V mild-hybrid setup to belt out a peak power output of 83 PS and 112 Nm of max torque. The option of an all-wheel-drive layout is also on offer. However, in the Indian market, the Swift is likely to go on sale with the existing 1.2L K-series Dualjet motor that produces 90 PS of peak power against a peak torque of 113 Nm. It remains to be seen, which engine will be offered on the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift in the Indian market. Transmission choices could include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.

Like the exterior, the interior has also undergone a revamp exercise. The results are familiar. The dashboard layout is quite like the Baleno’s, borrowing elements like the steering wheel, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, climate control console and more. The global model also gets a beefed-up safety kit comprising ADAS, 360-parking camera, emergency brake assist, multiple airbags, and hill hold assist.

In all likelihood, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift could be priced from ₹6.50 lakh onwards. The Maruti Suzuki Swift currently locks horns with the likes of the Tata Altroz, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago and Tata Punch. The new-gen model will continue to offer stiff competition to these models.
