In terms of space, the second row is distinctive with good legroom and flexibility with sliding and reclining seats. The third row, however, is most suitable for children, since there is limited space for adults. Practicality is well covered with multiple storage spaces and a flexible seating layout.

On the technology front, the SUV gets an 8-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a 360-degree camera. While the basics are covered, the infotainment system is a little outdated in terms of the interface and responsiveness, which detracts from the overall experience.

The Nissan X-Trail is fitted with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control and a tyre pressure monitoring system, so the safety of the occupants is well covered. It has received a 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP, speaking volumes about its structural strength and safety standards. 

However, it is important to note that the India-spec model does not include features of ADAS, which are commonly available in rivals in this price point. While the basic safety package is good, the lack of advanced driver assistance systems does affect the overall safety appeal in the premium segment.
