Outline

Vavye Mobility, a new entrant into the car manufacturing business, is going to showcase the production-ready version of its first car — the Vayve Eva — which it claims to be India’s first solar car. Vayve proposes this upcoming electric microcar to be an appealing city commuter for customers. Here’s what we know about the Eva so far.

Speaking of the company that has developed the car, Vayve Mobility is a new automaker in India that aims to build electric cars for urban commuting with solar-charging technology. It has primarily been working on the Eva as of now, and another project car that has been codenamed as the CT5.

Eva is the carmaker’s first product that it plans to launch in 2025. First showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, the Eva is a microcar that can seat two people, and measures 3,060mm x 1,150mm x 1,590mm, with a wheelbase of 2,200mm. The Eva is run on electricity, and has a solar panel on its roof that can alternatively recharge the battery in place of a conventional EV charger (worry not, there’s that option too, for rainy days).

The company claims the Eva to have a range of 250 kilometres per charge, although that sounds a bit unrealistic. The top speed of the microcar is capped at 70 kmph, and it claims a 0-80% charging time of 45 minutes. The interior of this tiny commuter gets two dashboard screens, a glass roof, cubby holes for storage, dials for the AC and sound system, an airbag for the driver, as well as steering-mounted controls. The concept car was equipped with a 14kWh battery pack.

The Eva is going to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo scheduled for January 17-22, 2025. The exact date of launch hasn’t yet been determined. Vayve will start accepting pre-bookings for the electric microcar from January onwards. Vayve Eva price hasn’t been disclosed either, though the CEO has said that it is likely to be priced at a figure close to 60% of the price of an electric family hatchback (the Eva can seat only two people though).
