2026 Honda City facelift mileage confirmed — Up to 27.26 kmpl for the hybrid

Honda Cars India has officially launched the facelifted Honda City in India and the ARAI-certified mileage figures for the full lineup are now confirmed. The 2026 sedan continues with both petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options, with the e:HEV hybrid delivering the highest fuel efficiency in the range. With prices starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the City facelift remains positioned at the centre of the midsize sedan segment.

The 2026 Honda City facelift continues with Honda’s familiar 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 121PS and 145Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed CVT automatic, with paddle shifters available on higher variants.

In terms of efficiency, the new City petrol manual delivers an ARAI-certified 17.77 kmpl, while the CVT returns a slightly higher 17.97 kmpl. The difference is small, but the CVT offers a more relaxed driving experience in daily city traffic, especially for commuters. This petrol engine is available across the SV, V, ZX, and ZX+ variants. The manual gearbox is offered in all trims, while the CVT starts from the V variant onward.

The highlight of the 2026 Honda City e:HEV lineup is its claimed fuel efficiency of 27.26 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel-efficient sedans currently on sale in India. The hybrid setup combines a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with Honda’s two-motor e:HEV system, producing a combined 126PS and 253Nm of torque through an e-CVT gearbox.

The system automatically switches between EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive depending on speed and driving conditions. In slow city traffic, the car can run silently on electric power for short distances, while the petrol engine steps in when more performance or higher speeds are needed. The hybrid powertrain is offered only in the top-spec ZX+ variant with an e-CVT automatic transmission.

The Honda City range starts at Rs 11.99 lakh for the SV petrol MT, making it the most affordable option in the lineup. Buyers looking for more convenience can opt for the CVT variants, which start from Rs 14.29 lakh for the V trim. For those prioritising fuel efficiency and lower running costs, the Honda City e:HEV at Rs 20.99 lakh stands out with its 27.26 kmpl claimed mileage.
