Mahindra has introduced the 2026 Thar facelift in three variants: AXT, LXT and ZXT. Prices start at Rs 10.32 lakh and go up to Rs 17.75 lakh, ex-showroom. The updated 3-door Thar is based on the new M_Glyde 4G platform and gets more features and safety equipment across the range. Deliveries will begin on 11 October 2026. Here's what you get with each variant.

The facelifted Mahindra Thar AXT is available only with the D117 CRDe diesel and MT-RWD at Rs 10.32 lakh. The LXT starts at Rs 12.99 lakh, making it Rs 2.67 lakh more expensive than the AXT.
The LXT and ZXT offer the same engine and gearbox combinations. The ZXT is Rs 1 lakh more than the LXT for the D117 MT-RWD and the mHawk AT-RWD. The gap is Rs 1.06 lakh for the mHawk 4WD MT and Rs 99,000 for the 4WD AT. For the G20 mStallion petrol, the ZXT costs Rs 1 lakh more than the LXT with 4WD MT. The gap is Rs 1.32 lakh for RWD AT and Rs 52,000 for 4WD AT.
Mahindra Thar facelift design differences across trims
The AXT is the base variant of the 2026 Mahindra Thar. It gets steel wheels, a hard top, tubular side footsteps, halogen multi-reflector headlamps and LED tail lamps. It also gets the new body-coloured front grille, C-shaped DRLs and updated bumpers.
The LXT adds R18 alloy wheels, dual-tone bumpers and moulded side footsteps over the AXT. Meanwhile, the top-spec ZXT gets larger R19 alloy wheels, LED headlamps with integrated DRLs and LED fog lamps with a cornering function, which Mahindra calls Ice Cube lighting. Inside, it gets embossed leatherette seats and a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel instead of the fabric and vinyl trims offered on the lower variants.
2026 Mahindra Thar colour options
Mahindra is offering the 2026 Thar in eight exterior colours: Everest White, Stealth Black, Tango Red, Battleship Grey, Deep Forest, Galaxy Grey, Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue. All eight colours are available across the AXT, LXT and ZXT variants, so there are no trim-specific colour options.
New Mahindra Thar AXT features
The new Mahindra Thar facelift AXT introduces two new features for the Thar: Electric Power Steering and Push Button Start, which were not available on the pre-facelift model.

3-door Mahindra Thar LXT features
The LXT adds more comfort, technology and off-road features over the AXT. These include a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control and 4WD-specific equipment.

The main additions on the LXT include the touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and cruise control. The 4WD version also gets an Electronic Locking Differential and Terrain Modes, while the RWD version gets Terrain Assist on the 2.2-litre mHawk and 2.0-litre mStallion engines.
New Mahindra Thar ZXT features
The ZXT is the top-spec variant and adds more safety, convenience and premium features over the LXT.

The ZXT's standout addition is safety-focused: the four HPTS (Head, Pelvis, Thorax, Shoulder) side airbags bring the Thar OG's total airbag count to 6, up from 2 on the AXT and LXT. Front parking sensors and disc brakes on all four wheels also arrive exclusively on this top trim, alongside FDD damping technology for a noticeably more composed ride.

The Thar OG continues with three engine choices: the D117 CRDe diesel, the D22 mHawk diesel, and the G20 TGDi mStallion petrol.

The new Mahindra Thar AXT gets only the 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel with a 6-speed manual and RWD, making 119 PS and 300 Nm. The LXT adds more options. It gets the D117 with manual and RWD, the 2.2-litre mHawk with RWD automatic or 4WD manual/automatic, and the 2.0-litre mStallion with RWD automatic or 4WD manual/automatic. The ZXT gets the same engine, gearbox and drivetrain options as the LXT.
