A select group of brands in India — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, BYD, Nissan, Honda, and MG — has confirmed car price hikes set to take effect from January 1, 2026. Across these brands, the increases will range from up to 2% to 6%. Scroll down to take a closer look at the new car prices 2026 across all confirmed brands.

Mercedes-Benz 2026 car price update

Mercedes-Benz GLC

Among carmakers announcing New Year price hikes, Mercedes-Benz is one of them. Its ex-showroom prices across all models will increase by up to 2% starting January 1, 2026. Last year, the hike for 2025 was higher, reaching up to 3%. The upcoming increase is attributed to rising raw material and logistics costs.

The euro-rupee exchange rate has remained consistently above 100 rupees ($1.11) this year, adding to operational expenses. Mercedes-Benz is also considering further quarterly price adjustments to reflect fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. While most of the cost pressures are being absorbed by the company, a small portion will be passed on to customers.

BMW price increase confirmed for 2026

2025 BMW i5 to get cheaper in India

BMW prices went up by as much as 3% last time, and now buyers are facing another increase. The company has announced that starting January 1, 2026, prices for BMW models will rise by up to 6%. For anyone planning to buy, this makes timing an important factor, waiting could cost you more.

Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, “Pressure from forex due to Indian Rupee’s sharp depreciation against US dollar and Euro has not eased for several months now and the input costs of raw materials and logistics have been impacted. The planned price hike measure will ensure necessary profitability and continued value generation for the company as well as our dealer partners.”

BYD car prices rising in 2026

BYD India has also announced that the Sealion 7 will get a price hike starting January 1, 2026. But if you’re planning to buy soon, you can still get it at the current ex-showroom price. With some negotiation or ongoing offers, you might even get extra discounts.

The Sealion 7 is available in two variants. The Premium is priced at Rs 48,90,000, while the Performance comes in at Rs 54,90,000, both ex-showroom. Both trims are equipped with an 82.56 kWh battery. The Performance variant delivers a range of 542 km, while the Premium can go slightly further at 567 km.

Nissan models to cost more soon

From the start of the new year, Nissan car prices will go up by as much as 3%, which is 1% higher than last year’s increase. The company attributes the hike mainly to rising input costs and unfavourable exchange rates.

Looking ahead, the Nissan Gravite is set to launch in January 2026, while the Tekton is scheduled to debut in February 2026. For buyers, moving before the price increase could save a noticeable amount.

Honda 2026 car prices go up

Honda Elevate

Honda has confirmed that its car prices will rise, though it hasn’t revealed by how much. Last year, prices increased by up to 2% at the start of the new year, and this time the hike is expected to be around the same or slightly higher, possibly up to 3%.

Honda says the price increase is due to ongoing pressure from higher input and operational costs. Raw materials, logistics, and supplier components have become more expensive in recent months. The company has absorbed these costs so far to protect customers. However it seems that the continued rise makes a price adjustment unavoidable.

MG cars price hike hits in 2026

MG Hector 2026

Last year, MG Motors raised its prices by up to 3%. This year, the company has announced another price adjustment of up to 2%, effective January 1, 2026. The carmaker is attributing this hike to rising input costs and broader macroeconomic pressures. The increase will apply across its entire lineup of models.
