Why the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 recall is happening and the risks involved

According to SIAM, the affected Toyota Land Cruiser models have a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses small components called linear solenoids to control how the gears shift. Think of these solenoids as tiny gatekeepers that make sure each gear engages smoothly and at the right time. If one of these solenoids fails under certain driving conditions, the system that normally monitors the transmission and engine may not detect the problem.
When this happens, the transmission could spin faster than it should in some gears. That over-revving can put stress on the transmission, potentially causing damage. Furthermore, It may also lead to a temporary loss of power while driving at higher speeds, which could be very dangerous on highways or during overtaking. In severe cases, if the transmission housing gets damaged, fluid could leak out, creating another safety risk.
Toyota Land Cruiser recall — Total units affected
A total of 969 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 units have been recalled. The affected vehicles were manufactured between 4 September 2024 and 29 September 2025. Owners who want to check whether their vehicle is affected can visit their nearest dealership for an inspection. If the vehicle falls under the recall, technicians will reprogram the electronic control modules that manage the transmission and engine to resolve the issue.
