Outline

Honda Cars India has launched the City Sport in the Indian market, a hotter-looking iteration of the standard City. The v-tec fanbase may find it nothing more than a sticker job, as there are no performance enhancements over the standard models. Stick-shift purists would be disappointed to note that the City Sport is restricted to the CVT transmission only. Read further to know what the City Sport offers.

Honda City Sport launched with sporty design bits

The Honda City Sport features a few design enhancements, in order to make the ‘Sport’ suffix relevant. Its key design features includes a blacked out radiator grille, gunmetal 16-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out side mirrors, blacked-out shark-fin antenna and Sport branding on the boot lid. That’s about it on the outside; the changes on the inside are far more perceptible.

The Honda City Sport interior features an all-black dashboard with sporty red inserts. Complementing its sporty intent further is the addition of all-black leatherette seats with red stitching and black headliner. The dashboard and door cards also get soft touch padding with red stitching.

Honda City Sport features

On the features front, the City Sport comes with the same set of features as the City V variant and adds configurable ambient lighting. Its feature list includes Level-2 ADAS, projector headlights, LED tail lights, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, twin-pod instrument cluster, paddle shifters and more.

Honda City Sport powertrain details

The Honda City Sport comes with the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that generates 121PS of power and 145Nm of peak torque. As we stated earlier, the City Sport comes exclusively with the CVT transmission and not with the 6-speed manual that can be had with the standard model. It’s fair to think that the option of the 6-speed manual would have been offered, given the sporty intent of the Sport Edition.

The Honda City Sport is priced at Rs 14.89 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. Over the variant that the City Sport is based on—the City V—it commands a price premium of Rs 50,000.
