Honda Cars India recently revealed the new Honda ZR-V hybrid for the Indian market, and along with its debut, the company also confirmed its ARAI-certified mileage figures. The strong-hybrid SUV delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of over 20 kmpl. Pre-bookings for the limited CBU model are already underway, while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from mid-July 2026.

The Honda ZR-V hybrid delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 22.8 kmpl. Honda also claims the SUV can travel up to 1,300 km on a full tank, making it a strong option for buyers who frequently drive long distances or spend a lot of time on highways.

This efficiency comes from Honda’s e:HEV strong-hybrid system, which automatically switches between EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive modes depending on driving conditions to use the electric motor as efficiently as possible.

The ZR-V uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with Honda's dual-motor e:HEV strong hybrid system, making it the first time Honda has brought a 2.0-litre hybrid drivetrain to India. The combined system output is 184PS and 315Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels through an e-CVT gearbox. Honda claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 7.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 172kph.

The stronger electric motor output in the ZR-V compared to the City e:HEV is the key differentiator here. The electric traction motor alone produces 181PS and 315Nm, which means the ZR-V can rely heavily on the motor for most day-to-day driving, with the petrol engine stepping in when more power or battery charging is needed.

Honda ZR-V hybrid bookings, delivery, and expected price

Pre-launch bookings for the Honda ZR-V are open now across authorised dealerships in India. Honda will bring the ZR-V in as a Completely Built-Up Unit from Japan in limited numbers under the government's CBU import framework. Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-July 2026, with an official price announcement likely around the same time.

Based on the specification level and the CBU import cost, the ZR-V is expected to be priced in the Rs 45-50 lakh (ex-showroom) range. At that price, it will go up against the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian, though the hybrid powertrain gives it a clear fuel economy edge over all of them.
