Kia Carens Clavis EV India launch confirmed

Kia India has officially confirmed its plans to launch the Carens Clavis EV, which is set to become Kia’s first locally-developed EV for the Indian market. The new Carens Clavis EV will largely resemble the newly-unveiled Carens Clavis when it comes to the design and the features on offer. Our reliable sources share that the Carens Clavis EV will make its debut towards the second half of the year 2025.

Kia Carens Clavis EV design

On the design front, the new Carens Clavis takes a large departure from the standard Carens and adopts the new “Opposite United” design philosophy, which is in line with Kia’s new EV models. Its key details include a flat front nose with connected LED lightbar adjoining the tri-beam LED headlights, 17-inch machined alloy wheels and connected LED tail lights. All these elements are also likely to make their way to the Carens Clavis EV, with a few EV touches like aero wheels and active air flaps.

On the inside, the Carens Clavis features an all-new dashboard that has been clearly designed keeping the upcoming electrification in mind. The interior layout—touchscreens and steering wheel—is in line with Kia’s new models that look modern and contemporary. On the features front, the Carens Clavis packs a semi-powered driver’s seat, larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, tumble function for the second row seats, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof and a lot more. We expect all these features—including Level-2 ADAS—to be offered in the Carens Clavis EV.

Kia Carens Clavis EV powertrain details

Reports suggest that the upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV will share its underpinnings like battery and motor with the Hyundai Creta Electric. The newly launched Hyundai Creta Electric comes with two battery pack options—42kWh and 51.4kWh—and a single motor option that comes in two states of tune—135PS and 171PS. We expect the Kia Carens EV powertrain to match the battery and motor specifications of the Creta Electric, albeit with slight modifications thanks to the different bodystyle and use case.
