Kia Seltos crash test scored 5 stra rating in bharat NCAP — All details inside
- 1Kia Seltos earns a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating in for both adult & child safety
- 2Adult occupant protection score is 31.70 out of 32
- 3Rating applies across all variants listed in the annexure, not just the tested ones
The all-new Kia Seltos safety rating has been put through Bharat NCAP's crash test programme and has come out with a full 5-star rating. Both adult and child occupant protection categories earn five stars. The tested variants were the HTE (O) and the GTX [D1.5 CRDi VGT 6AT], assessed in February 2026. Importantly, the rating does not stay limited to just those two — it covers the complete variant lineup laid out in the official BNCAP annexure.
Here is a full look at the scores and what safety features the Seltos carries across its range.
Kia Seltos Bharat NCAP — Adult Occupant Protection
The 2026 Kia Seltos safety rating in adult occupant protection comes very close to a perfect score. It receives 31.70 out of a maximum of 32, leaving just 0.30 points unaccounted for. This is a tight margin at this level of assessment. The score is built from two tests. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, which simulates a partial front collision, the Seltos scores 15.70 out of 16. The small deduction here is minor.

The side movable deformable barrier test tells a cleaner story. The Seltos scores a full 16 out of 16. That is the maximum, with no points dropped. The side pole impact result is reported as OK.

Kia Seltos BNCAP — Child Occupant Protection
The Kia Seltos scores 45.00 out of 49 for child occupant protection. Breaking it down, the dynamic score is a full 24 out of 24. That is a maximum, meaning protection during actual impact is spot on for both child dummies tested. The CRS installation score is 12 out of 12, also a perfect result. Fitting a child seat in the Seltos is simple and the car supports it well. The vehicle assessment score is 9 out of 13, which is where a few points are left on the table.

Both child dummies used were secured in a Joie i-Spin 360 seat, an i-SIZE compliant unit using ISOFIX and a leg support, placed in a rearward-facing position. For the 18-month-old dummy, the frontal test score is 8 out of 8 and the side impact score is 4 out of 4. For the 3-year-old dummy, the results are identical, 8 out of 8 frontal and 4 out of 4 side.
Kia Seltos safety features — What comes standard across all variants

The Seltos comes with a reliable base layer of safety that does not vary by trim. These features are standard across the entire range:
- 6 Airbags — dual front, side chest, and side head curtain
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Pedestrian protection system
- Seat Belt Reminder (SBR) for all three rows — driver, passenger, and rear
- Belt pretensioner and load limiter for driver and passenger
- Side head curtain airbag across all three positions
- Side chest airbag for driver and passenger
- Frontal airbag for driver and passenger
- ISOFIX anchors on the second-row outboard seats
- Airbag cut-off switch on the passenger side (manual)
- All-wheel disc brakes
- Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold
- Hill Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Management
ESC, the pedestrian protection system, and seat belt reminders come as standard fitment on every single variant. That is confirmed in the BNCAP fact sheet and applies without exception.
Kia Seltos safety features — What higher trims add

Move up from the base HTE and the safety net gets significantly wider. Here is what is added as you go through the lineup:
- ADAS Level 2 with 21 autonomous features — available on HTX(A), GTX, X-Line, and GTX(A) variants
- Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist (FCA) — including junction turning and cyclist detection
- Front Collision Avoidance Assist-Direct Oncoming (FCA-DO)
- Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
- Lane Following Assist
- Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Avoidance Assist (BCA)
- Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist
- Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go — automatic only
- Parking Collision Avoidance Assist-Reverse (PCA-R) — automatic only
- Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
- High Beam Assist (HBA)
- Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA)
- Safe Exit Warning (SEW)
- 360-degree Camera with Blind View Monitor in cluster — on GTX(A) and X-Line(A)
- Rear parking sensors — standard from HTK(O) upward
- Speed Sensing Auto Door Locks
- Impact Sensing Auto Door Unlock
- Front and rear seat belt reminders
- Electronic Stop Signal (ESS)
The base variants carry everything needed to pass BNCAP with a 5-star result. The higher trims like GTX and X-Line families, get a comprehensive active safety layer on top of that. For buyers who want the crash protection numbers without spending on the top spec, the base variant already delivers the same structural safety. For those who want the full active safety package with ADAS, the GTX and above is where that sits.
