The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). It scored 30.76 out of 32 in AOP and 44.97 out of 49 in COP.
Mahindra XUV 7XO variants tested under Bharat NCAP

The Bharat NCAP fact sheet lists the tested vehicle as the Mahindra XUV 7XO in its AX7 DSL 2W 7S AT and AX7L DSL 4W 7S AT specifications. The SUV was assessed as a three-row body type, with a crash test weight of 2,059 kg. The car is manufactured in India, and this assessment applies specifically to the variants listed in the annexure of the official fact sheet, which spans a wide combination of both petrol and diesel variants across manual and automatic transmissions, and both 2-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setups, tested in July 2026.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Bharat NCAP crash test — Adult occupant protection

The XUV 7XO scored 30.76 out of a possible 32 points in the Adult Occupant Protection category, which is what secures its 5-star rating on the adult safety side. This overall score is made up of two separate tests, each contributing its own share of the total.

The Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test scored a perfect 16 out of 16, showing strong protection in a simulated side collision. The Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test scored 14.76 out of 16. The dummy assessment showed mostly “Good” ratings for the head, chest, pelvis and legs of both the driver and front passenger, with some “Adequate” ratings around the driver’s knee and lower leg areas. The Side Pole Impact Test also received an “OK” result, confirming a pass in this severe side-impact test.

On the child safety side, the XUV 7XO scored 44.97 out of 49 points, also translating to a 5-star rating in this category.

Dynamic testing used the Britax Romer DUALFIX PRO M child restraint system, which meets i-SIZE standards. It was installed in a rear-facing position using ISOFIX anchors and a support leg. The 3-year-old dummy scored a full 8 out of 8 in frontal protection and 4 out of 4 in side protection. The 18-month-old dummy scored 7.97 out of 8 in frontal protection and 4 out of 4 in side protection.

Child seat compatibility on the Mahindra XUV 7XO
The Mahindra XUV 7XO gets ISOFIX and i-Size child seat mounts as standard on the second-row outer seats. These mounts are not available on the front passenger or second-row centre seat. The SUV also does not get an integrated Child Restraint System (CRS).
The separate child seat installation test gave a “Pass” result for most of the tested seats when fitted to the second-row left and right seats. These included the Peg Perego Viaggio Switchable, Roemer Baby Safe, Bebe Comfort Stry Fix, Graco Cadeira Nautilus and Cybex Solution M-Fix. The front passenger, second-row centre and third-row positions were mostly marked as not applicable.
Mahindra XUV 7XO standard safety equipment
The XUV 7XO comes with front airbags for the driver and passenger, along with seat belt pretensioners and load limiters for both front occupants. Curtain airbags cover the front and rear sections of the cabin, while side chest and pelvis airbags are also standard for the driver and front passenger. A knee airbag is optional for the driver and is not available for the front passenger.

Other standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection and Seat Belt Reminders for the driver, front passenger and rear occupants. Bharat NCAP confirms that these safety features are available across all XUV 7XO variants covered by the rating.
Overall, the Bharat NCAP tests show strong occupant protection, including near-perfect side-impact scores and high child protection scores. However, the XUV 7XO has limited ISOFIX mounting positions, while the knee airbag is not available for the front passenger.
