Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept revealed — 1,341PS of pure electric power!
- 1Driven by three axial flux motors with a combined output of 1,341PS
- 2Boasts of an extremely low drag coefficient of 0.198
- 3Styling seems to be inspired from the likes of Maseratis and Jaguars
Electric concept cars are getting out of hand, and the latest one to boggle the mind is Mercedes’ GT XX that claims to put out a combined 1341PS of power from its three electric motors. And it looks like it has just come out of a video game; one of those that have a Maserati with a tweaked Mercedes logo slapped on. Not this car though, that was just a reference (I swear). Here are more details about the new Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept.
Mercedes-AMG GT XX powertrain

The concept features a triple motor setup that uses axial flux motors, instead of radial flux motors, that are much more compact, lighter, and powerful than the latter. The combined claimed output of this tri-motor system stands at 1,341PS. The car is built on the company’s new AMG.EA platform. Details about the battery capacity are yet to be disclosed.

Mercedes-AMG GT XX design

The design of the GT XX focuses heavily on aerodynamics, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.198. It gets the signature Panamericana grille at the front, with headlights that have speakers embedded in them. The rear lights are circular in shape, and get a display in the middle. There’s no rear windshield or a rear spoiler. The wheels have active aero with flaps that can pop out, controlled by actuators in the wheels themselves.

The cockpit features an F1-inspired steering wheel, though we don’t know if it’ll make it to the production-spec car or not. There are a couple of screens, and central air-con vents that look like exhaust pipes. You also get to see a lot of fancy stuff in the centre console area and on the door trims. Oh, there are a couple of seats at the back, too!
