If you own a Skoda Kodiaq, there is something important you need to check right now. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. has issued a voluntary recall for the Kodiaq and it involves a safety concern that directly impacts how well the car protects you in a crash. The recall was announced on 20th March 2026. While the number of affected units may seem small, the nature of the defect is serious enough that no owner should overlook it. So, is your Kodiaq on the list? Read on to find out.
Skoda Kodiaq recalled — What's the Issue?
The concern here is not with the engine, gearbox or any electronic system. Instead, it is something far closer to you as a driver or passenger. According to the information registered with SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), certain Kodiaq units may have a problem with the inner frame edge of the front seats.

In the event of a side-impact accident, your side airbags are your first line of defence. They are designed to deploy in a split second and create a cushioning barrier between your body and the door or intruding structure. If the inner frame edge of the front seat is not properly aligned or finished, it can interfere with this deployment. That interference could slow the airbag, alter its shape as it inflates or change the direction in which it expands.
Even a slight delay or misdirection at that moment can reduce how effectively the airbag absorbs impact forces. Instead of cushioning the chest and head as intended, the protection may be uneven or incomplete. In a real crash scenario, where every millisecond matters, this can increase the chances of injury. Especially in side-impact collisions where there is very little space between the occupant and the point of impact.
Which Skoda Kodiaq units are affected?

The recall covers Skoda Kodiaq vehicles manufactured between 10th March 2025 and 8th December 2025. A total of 221 units across India fall under this recall. If your Kodiaq was delivered sometime in 2025, there is a real chance it could be one of the affected vehicles. The production window is wide enough that a large portion of recently delivered Kodiaq owners need to get their vehicles checked without delay.
How can the Skoda Kodiaq owner check if their car is affected?
If your Kodiaq falls within the production dates mentioned above, there are two easy ways to check. You can visit Skoda’s official recall page and enter your car’s VIN. This is a 17-character code made up of letters and numbers. It will show whether your vehicle is affected.
You can also visit your nearest authorised Skoda dealership and share your vehicle details. The service team will confirm if your car is part of the recall. If it is, they will carry out the inspection and fix it free of charge. This is standard for all voluntary recalls. It is better not to wait for a notification. Issues like this should be checked early, especially when they involve something as important as airbag deployment.
