Skoda Octavia RS second batch launched in India — Back on sale

After a year of waiting, Skoda has launched the second batch of its performance-oriented Octavia RS. Same RS, same design, same much-loved 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine. But with a more limited run of 50 units and Rs 6.70 lakh more expensive. Deliveries for this new batch are set to begin next week.

At the heart of the Octavia RS is a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, producing 195 kW, or 265 PS, along with 370 Nm of torque. This is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and Skoda claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Handling is sharpened through progressive steering, a sports suspension setup and an advanced chassis tune.

The Skoda Octavia RS comes with full LED Matrix headlights, LED tail lamps with dynamic indicators and glossy black exterior details. It rolls on 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40 R19 sports tyres.

For this second batch, Skoda is offering the Octavia RS in three shades: Mamba Green, Velvet Red and Magic Black.  Skoda Octavia RS measures 4,709 mm in length, 1,829 mm in width and 1,457 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,677 mm. Despite its sedan and sporty body, it retains everyday usability, with a 600-litre boot that can be expanded to 1,555 litres by folding the rear seats.

Cabin features and technology on the Skoda Octavia RS

Inside, the Octavia RS uses Suedia Leather upholstery with red contrast stitching. The front dashboard houses a 12.9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. It also comes with a head-up display, wireless charger, 11-speaker system with a subwoofer, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, front seats with memory function, heating and massage capability, and the boot gets electric operation with a virtual pedal for hands-free opening.

Safety is well covered on the Octavia RS, with an advanced ADAS suite that includes  Intelligent Park Assist,  Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Assist. Alongside this, the car comes with 10 airbags, 360-degree Area View camera, parking sensors,  ISOFIX child seat mounts, and driving stability systems, among others.
