Tata Aeris interiors teased ahead of September launch — Beige theme, dual screens & more

Tata Motors has released another teaser for the upcoming Aeris sedan, this time offering the first proper look inside the cabin. Essentially a heavily updated, renamed version of the Tigor, the Aeris is set to launch the following day. This latest teaser fills in several of the remaining questions around what buyers can expect once they step inside.

Tata Aeris interior teaser — What's visible?

The Tata Aeris teaser reveals a light beige and grey cabin with a layered dashboard design. It gets a new two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster and a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. The screen follows a Tiago-like floating design and is expected to measure around 10.25 inches.

The centre console gets a rotary gear selector and physical climate-control buttons, while paddle shifters behind the steering wheel suggest that the showcased model has an automatic gearbox. There is also a smartphone storage area with wireless charging.

The biggest highlight is the 360-degree camera system. The infotainment screen displays separate front, rear, left and right camera feeds, giving a clear view around the car. Tata has also retained physical controls for everyday functions, along with centrally positioned AC vents, textured dashboard trim, a front centre armrest and light-coloured seat upholstery.

How the Tata Aeris exterior design

Alongside the interior, earlier teasers have also revealed several exterior updates on the Tata Aeris. Compared with the current Tigor, it gets a sleeker front end with slim LED headlights and a thin LED DRL strip positioned above them. LED fog lamps have also been confirmed, which are not available on the outgoing Tigor.

Other changes include redesigned tail-lights, traditional pull-type door handles and a new purple exterior colour. While the Aeris is based on the existing Tigor platform, it is expected to get new sheet metal as well, making it a more extensive update than a typical facelift.

Tata Aeris powertrain options

On power, the upcoming Tata Aeris is expected to carry over the Tigor's existing powertrain lineup largely unchanged: a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a petrol-CNG option, both likely available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Given that the interior teaser specifically shows paddle shifters and a rotary selector, it's reasonable to expect the AMT-equipped variant will be among the more feature-loaded trims once the full variant lineup is revealed.

Tata Aeris expected pricing

Tata has not revealed the Aeris pricing yet. It is expected to cost slightly more than the outgoing Tigor, which is currently priced from Rs 5.55 lakh to Rs 8.84 lakh, ex-showroom. The Aeris will continue to compete with the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
