Outline

Tata Motors will raise prices across select models in its lineup by up to Rs 25,000 starting 1 September 2026. The company has pointed to a mix of ongoing inflationary pressure and rising input costs as the main drivers behind the decision, saying the increase will help it offset some of these challenges.

Why Tata Motors is raising prices

Tata Motors said it has been absorbing higher costs for some time, but the continued rise is now putting pressure on its profits. EV battery costs have also increased by around 10% in recent months, adding pressure on the pricing of its electric models.

The company also cited forex volatility and higher employee separation costs as other factors. Tata Motors said its profit margin has fallen to 7.4%, while supply-chain issues at Jaguar Land Rover have added further pressure.
