Back in December 2023, Tata Harrier and Safari were the first models to be tested by the Bharat NCAP, right when this crash test assessment was just getting started. At that time, both models performed very well, earning a full-star rating. 

 

Now, with the recent major update that introduced the Tata Harrier and Safari petrol variants into the existing lineup, BNCAP has extended this safety rating to the new models as well. Scroll down to take a closer look at the Tata Safari & Harrier petrol BNCAP crash test rating.

 

Tata Harrier & Safari petrol BNCAP crash test — Adult occupant protection

Tata Harrier petrol safety rating in the adult occupant protection category stood at 30.08 out of 32. The Safari petrol trims matched this performance.

 

These scores come from the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, where it scored 14.08 out of 16. Most body parts showed good protection, but the chest received marginal protection, and the left lower leg or crus offered only adequate protection.

 

In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, it scored a perfect 16 out of 16 demonstrating good protection. The Side Pole Impact Test (Pole) was also conducted.

In the child occupant protection tests, both the Safari and Harrier petrol models scored 44.54 out of 49 which translates to a five-star rating. Breaking it down, the dynamic tests contributed 23.54 out of 24 points. For child restraint system installation, they scored a perfect 12 out of 12. In the overall vehicle assessment, they earned 9 out of 13 points.

Both the new Harrier and Safari petrol models come with a comprehensive set of standard safety features. They include six airbags for the driver, co-driver, side, and curtain positions, all-wheel disc brakes, traction control, ISOFIX mounts, hill assist for uphill starts, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, three-point seatbelts with reminders, a perimeter alarm system, electronic stability program, rollover mitigation, corner stability control, brake disc wiping, panic brake alert, and after-impact braking.

 

As you move up the variants, the safety features increase. In the top-spec Safari Fearless Ultra and Harrier Fearless Ultra, buyers get ADAS Level 2+ with 22 functional safety and driver-assistance features.
