Tata Punch production crosses the 6 lakh units milestone in record time — Details!

After beating Maruti Suzuki’s 40 year record of selling the most number of units of a single nameplate in the year 2024, the Tata Punch has secured another place in the record books, being the fastest car in its segment to cross the production milestone of 6 lakh units. 6 lakh+ units units produced in under four years

Tata Motors has rolled out over 6 lakh units of the Punch from its assembly lines in a record time of just under four years. The car was introduced to the Indian market back in October 2021, and has been one of the best selling Tata cars in India since then, faring much ahead of its competition. It is to be noted that this production milestone includes both ICE as well as electric variants of the Punch.

Tata Punch sales insights

As per data released by the carmaker, about 70% of people that have bought ICE variants of the Tata Punch were first time car buyers. It also claims that 24% of Punch’s total buyers came from Tier I cities, 42% from Tier II cities, and the remaining 34% from Tier III towns. Moreover, about every third car sold by Tata Motors is a Punch, with the model accounting for 36% of the brand’s total sales in India.

Upcoming Tata Punch facelift

A camouflaged test mule of what appeared to be a facelifted version of the Tata Punch was spied testing not long back, hinting at an imminent launch. No changes are expected on the powertrain front, though we might see a few interior and exterior tweaks and a couple of feature additions. Exact details about the same are scarce at the moment.
