The Tata Nexon climbed its way back up to the first spot, garnering 22,573 units of sales last month. The Tata Nexon is available in a wide range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric powertrains, catering to diverse customer bases.

 

Maruti Dzire

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire remains in second place among the best-selling cars in India in September 2025, with a total of 20,038 units dispatched. The new Dzire shares its powertrains with the fourth-generation Swift and appears much more upmarket than its predecessor.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai’s star performer, the Creta, has moved to the third position in September 2025. Selling a total of 18,861 units last month, this compact SUV comes with a variety of engine & transmission options — a 1.5-litre petrol with a 6-speed MT and a CVT, a 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT, and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT — and is generously loaded with features, which make it a great package.

Mahindra Scorpio

Also making it to the list of best‑selling cars in India for September is the Mahindra Scorpio. The popular SUV is available in two versions — the rugged and timeless Scorpio Classic and the bold, feature-rich Scorpio N. Together, both models achieved combined sales of 18,372 units in September 2025.


 The Scorpio Classic uses a 2.2‑litre mHawk diesel engine producing 132 PS and 300 Nm, while the Scorpio N offers a 2.0‑litre turbo‑petrol engine with 203 PS and 380 Nm or a 2.2‑litre diesel unit generating 175 PS and 400 Nm.

The Tata Punch climbed its way back to the fifth spot, selling a total of 15,891 units last month. The Tata Nexon is available in a wide range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric powertrains, catering to diverse customer bases.

Maruti Swift

 

Maruti Suzuki Swift

 

Selling 15,547 units last month, the Swift ranked at the sixth spot in this list. Maruti Suzuki gave the Swift a generational update last year, and the car now comes powered by a 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine, generating 82PS of power and 112Nm of torque.

 

Maruti Wagon R

One of India’s all-time best selling cars, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, ranked just behind the Swift, selling a total of 15,388 units. Maruti is celebrating 25 years of sales of the Wagon R in India, making it one of the longest-selling cars in India. 

 

Maruti Fronx

The Maruti Fronx brought in 13,767 units of sales last month, retaining its eighth spot. The Fronx gets five options for the powertrain — a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT, a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit paired to a 5-speed MT, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. 

 

Maruti Baleno

Another Maruti car to make its way to this list, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, brought in 13,173 units of sales for the Indo-Japanese carmaker. The Baleno is rebadged as the Glanza and sold by Toyota, coming up to be the latter’s third best selling car after the Innovas and the Hyryder.

 

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

 

2025 Maruti Eeco launched in India

 

The only MPV to make it to this list is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which recorded sales of 12,115 units last month. It is powered by a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 103 PS and 137 Nm of torque. The Ertiga is also available with a factory-fitted CNG option.
