Honda Cars India has teased a new special edition that is said to be of the City sedan. The teaser has been released with the "Ready for a Sportier Life”, hinting towards a possible Sport Edition for the City. Read on further to know what to expect from the upcoming Honda City Sport Edition.

Honda City Sport Edition expected details

The upcoming Honda City Sport Edition has been teased for the first time ahead of its launch across Honda Cars India social handles. While the teaser doesn’t show anything more than a car passing by, the caption reveals the sporty intent of the upcoming update to the CIty. However, do not expect any mechanical changes to the package to enhance the performance or sporty quotient of the City.

We expect to see a few cosmetic updates in the form of piano black elements on the grille, bumpers, ORVMs and boot lip spoiler. Like the Apex Edition, the City Sport Edition could also feature Sport branding on the front fenders and we can also expect a new set of sporty alloy wheels along with red brake callipers for enhanced sporty appeal.

Honda City Sport Edition interior and features

On the inside, the City Sport Edition could feature an all-black dashboard with piano black finish and sporty red inserts. Along with that, the seats could come wrapped in black upholstery with red stitching for added sportiness inside the cabin. Apart from this, we do not expect any other functional or practical changes compared to the standard model.

When it comes to features, Honda could throw in a few dealer-level additions—like in the case of the Apex Edition—which could include ambient lighting, rear seat cushions and leatherette door padding. The City Sport Edition will continue to offer standard features that include a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charger and more.

Honda City Sport Edition powertrain details

The powertrain specifications are likely to remain unchanged, featuring a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that generates 121PS of power and 145Nm of peak torque. This engine can be paired to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The Honda City also comes with a strong hybrid petrol engine but that is unlikely to be offered with the e:HEV option.

Honda City Sport Edition launch timeline

Since the upcoming model has already been teased on Honda’s social handles, we expect the Honda City Sport Edition launch to take place in the coming weeks. It could command a few thousands more over the standard Honda City and is likely to be based on the higher grades of the standard City.
