Nissan has officially confirmed the name of its upcoming C-segment SUV — Nissan Tekton. Alongside the name, the carmaker has shared an early look at the design, which clearly takes cues from the legendary Nissan Patrol.
The Tekton will be the second model under Nissan Motor India’s One Car, One World strategy. It’s being developed in partnership with Renault and will be built at the Chennai plant, not just for India but also for select global markets. In the same announcement, delivered through a formal press release, the company also revealed the Nissan Tekton launch timeline for India.
Scroll down for a full breakdown covering the upcoming Nissan Tekton India launch, design, features, powertrain, rivals, and more.
Upcoming Nissan Tekton design revealed

The Nissan Tekton exterior makes a strong first impression. Up front, it features a sculpted bonnet and bold C-shaped headlamps that nod to the Patrol’s design DNA. Along the sides, the front doors feature a 'Double-C' accent with a mountain range pattern inspired by the Himalayas. It's a simple detail, but it adds character.
From the side, the Tekton looks muscular and grounded. At the rear, a red lightbar runs across the width of the SUV, connecting the C-shaped taillamps. The Tekton name is spelt out clearly across the tailgate, sitting just below the lightbar.

Upcoming Nissan Tekton interior & features

While Nissan hasn’t officially revealed the Nissan Tekton interior, recent spy shots of a test mule offer a few early hints. Despite the dashboard being covered, a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, a digital driver display, and an AC vent were clearly visible. A rotary knob on the passenger side hints at climate or seat controls.
Other visible features include cruise control and adjustable seats. Expected highlights for the production model include a large touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, 360-degree cameras, powered and ventilated seats, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, six airbags, parking sensors, and an auto-dimming IRVM, among others.

Upcoming Nissan SUV engine options
Nissan India has officially ruled out any diesel engine options for its upcoming range of cars. With diesel's market share steadily shrinking, Nissan plans to focus on electric vehicles and hybrids to meet the country's tightening emission norms. That means the upcoming Nissan SUV is expected to offer naturally aspirated petrol and turbo petrol engines. There have also been words of strong hybrid powertrain options, though the details are yet to be confirmed.
