Ahead of the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron launch in the first quarter of 2026, VW has already started local assembly of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line. Once it hits the roads, this three-row SUV will take on competitors like the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner, and the upcoming MG Majestic. Upcoming Volkswagen Tayron R-Line production begins locally

The 2026 Volkswagen Tayron will be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line in the lineup. Production has begun at Volkswagen’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra, which also assembles the Tiguan R-Line and the Skoda Kodiaq as part of the SAVWIPL portfolio. The facility isn’t limited to Volkswagen and Škoda models. It also produces a range of Audi vehicles, including the A4, A6, Q3, Q5, and Q7.

The unveiled Volkswagen Tayron R-Line features dual projector headlamps with a connecting LED strip, a mesh grille, roof rails, and the IQ.LIGHT HD Matrix LED setup. The exterior, shown in bold purple, rides on 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels. It measures 4,792 mm in length, 1,866 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height, with a 2,789 mm wheelbase.

Inside, it has a 15-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting in 30 colours, wireless charging, and a clean, modern design. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, multiple airbags, parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS.
2026 Volkswagen Tayron R-Line engine

The VW Tayron R-Line is powered by the familiar 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 204PS of power and 320Nm of torque. It comes exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
