Luxury cars in India might have been considered rare a decade or two ago but things have significantly changed and you are likely to see a premium luxury car on every main street in the country. Car manufacturers in the luxury segment sell cars between the Rs. 50 Lakh and Rs. 1 Crore range on a continuous basis and are doing so even today. While the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed things down quite a bit, there are some upcoming luxury cars that are sure to get some interested buyers excited. Here are the upcoming cars that are priced under Rs. 1 Crore.

Audi Q7 2020

The Audi Q7 2020 will take the place of the previous Q7 SUV in India and it is expected to come loaded with features and a performance that will be very hard to match. Under the hood of the upcoming Q7 2020 will either be a BSVI-compliant 2.0L TFSI petrol engine that will produce 248Ps of power and 273Nm of torque or a 3.0L TFSI petrol engine that generates 335Ps of power with 369Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission system with Quattro All-Wheel-Drive functionality. In terms of features, the Q7 2020 will come fitted with a 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster known as the Audi Virtual Cockpit. The infotainment system will comprise two touchscreens including a 10.1-inch and an 8.6-inch monitor which will come with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The audio system will come with 3D Surround Sound and high-quality HD Radio Technology. The Q7 2020 will also feature advanced keyless entry, rain sensor windshields, cruise control, auto drive, hill descent assistance, 360 degree camera, and panoramic sunroof. While the previous Q7 was one of the most old cars in the Audi lineup last year, the upcoming model could quite easily lead the charge in the SUV segment.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2020

Considered as the discounted S-Class, the upcoming E-Class 2020 carries all the luxury but leaves behind the hefty price tag from the most premium sedan from Mercedes-Benz. The body of the upcoming E-Class looks quite similar to the previous iteration but there are a few upgrades and new inclusions. The brake lights are now wider than they used to be on the older E-Class and the headlamps also get brand new LED lights in them. The alloy wheels have also been redesigned. The front grille has also been changed up a bit with the standard version getting a curved up design whereas the AMG variants get a more aggressive-looking swept down grille design. On the AMG variants, Mercedes has also included “power domes” or bulges on the bonnet that give the car a deeper sound when revving the engine. Under the hood, the new E-Class 2020 comes with a BSVI-compliant 2.0L Inline 4petrol engine that is capable of generating 255Ps of power and 273Nm of torque and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission gearbox. There is also a BSVI-complaint 3.0L V6 diesel engine that will produce 362Ps of power and 369Nm of torque along with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Inside, the E-Class 2020 will come with dual 10-inch touchscreen displays which can be upgraded to larger, 12-inch displays. Some of the other features include “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant, 360-degree surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, and all the other high-tech equipment you can expect from a Mercedes-Benz premium sedan.

Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace will be the brands first all-electric SUV and is set to hit Indian markets as soon as July 2020. After its initial concept unveiling in 2016, the car was ready for sale in 2018 around the world. Housing an electric motor on each axle, the I-Pace will offer 400PS of power and is capable of taking the car from 0-100kmph in just 4.8 seconds. Behind the powerful motors, the car is fitted with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery that will carry the I-Pace for up to 470kms on a single charge. The company claims that a 50kW DC charger that will give the battery enough power to run 270kms with just 60 minutes of charge while the included 7kW AC charger will take about 10 hours to give the battery about 80 per cent power. In terms of design, the I-Pace features a lip spoiler and a rear windscreen that is raked to give it a crossover look. The rear of the car also has a dual-tone bumper, stylish LED taillights, and a dual-tone bumper. On the front, the car gets the regular grille with stretched LED head lamps that give the car a rather bulky look. Interiors of the I-Pace are both premium and modern with the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system in the middle. This setup offers two touchscreen displays – one for controlling the cars settings and the other for music and other content. The Jaguar I-Pace, although the most expensive of the three, can be purchased with a discount with the help of a pre-owned car evaluation tool that gets you the best deal on your current vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe

If there was one car from Mercedes-Benz that you should be waiting for, it has to be the AMG GLE 53 Coupe. This stunning car looks sleek, stylish, and delivers a performance like no other. Thanks to the massive 3.0L In-Line turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of generating 429Ps of power and 384Nm of torque, the AMG GLE 53 Coupe is probably one of the most powerful coupe’s in the Indian market right now. Mated to the engine is a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT automatic transmission. Mercedes has included 21-inch wheels on the AMG GLE 53 Coupe which gives it unrealistic control and that will be extremely important on Indian roads. As of now, that is all we know about the India-bound coupe, but we expect to get more information in the coming weeks given that the car will be launched by the end of this year. Mercedes-Benz EQC

Across the globe, electric vehicles or EVs are slowly but surely making their presence felt and it’s about time Mercedes-Benz got into the story as well. Welcome the Mercedes-Benz EQC. This electric SUV is probably one of the most anticipated EVs in the market right now – not only because it comes from one of the biggest names in the automobile industry, but also because it is expected to be a complete powerhouse. When Mercedes showcased the EQC, they did so with a variant called the “Edition 1886”. This model was powered by a massive 8kWh Lithium-Ion battery that is expected to give the EQC a minimum range of 445 kilometers on a full battery. With those numbers, you can see why the EQC might just become an instant hit with all EV enthusiasts. When it comes to charge time, the EQC comes with a 7.4kW AC charger that can be used is any home port as well as outdoor charging stations (wherever available) but will be a lot slower as compared to the advertised Mercedes-Benz wall box charger that delivers power up to three times faster than the regular charger. It can do this through the 110kW DC charger that is featured in the station and can take the battery from 10-80 percent in just 40 minutes. The EQC houses a dual motor setup that allows All-Wheel-Drive and is capable of generating 408Ps of power and 760Nm f torque. It is also estimated that the EQC will be able to go from 0-100 Kmph in an impressive 5.1 seconds. In terms of features, the EQC will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, multi-zone climate control, luxurious upholstery, MBUX, and a digital assistant voice command setup.

Audi Q5 2021

Since the SUV segment in the India has been doing extremely well over the past couple of years, Audi has officially announced that the Q5 2021 will make it to the country sometime in 2021. The SUV has already gained a lot of popularity in other countries around the world like the US and UK and it is expected to bring that same excitement to India when it is finally launched. Powering the Q5 2021 is a BSVI-compliant 2.0L TFSI Turbocharged-petrol engine that is capable of generating 248Ps of power and 273Nm of torque. Mated to the Q5 2021 engine will be a 7-speed S Tronic DCT automatic gearbox that also features Quattro All-Wheel-Drive technology. With the latest tests, the Q5 2021 has provided an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just under 6 seconds. Some of the features we can expect to see on the Q5 2021 will include a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Bluetooth audio connectivity, high-end speakers with WiFi, and an all-digital instrument cluster.

Ford Mustang 2021

What can you really say about the iconic Ford Mustang that hasn’t already been said over and over again? Fortunately, the upcoming Ford Mustang 2021 is set to be released in India in 2021 and it could most definitely have us talking a lot more about the undeniable king of muscle cars. While India has opened its doors to a lot more international car manufacturers over the years, the likes of the Mustang 2021 is something every car enthusiast will be waiting for patiently. Powering this monstrous beast will be a massive 5.0L V8 Turbo-petrol engine that will produce a heart-pumping 480Ps of power and 420Nm of torque. All that power will be paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission as standard or a 10-speed automatic option. The Mustang will also come with Rear-Wheel-Drive for better control. Some of the features we are definitely going to see on the Mustang 2021 include automatically heated and cooled seats, an infotainment system with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Wi-Fi hotspot, and a high-end stereo for those who prefer their entertainment the old-school way.

Audi TT 2021

Although not a lot is known about the upcoming Audi TT 2021, the company has hinted that we can expect similar specifications to the previous model. Nevertheless, there are some leaked rumours that we can follow to gain a little more information about the coupe. Powering the new TT 2021 is a new BSVI-compliant 2.5L Turbocharged-petrol engine that will produce a maximum of 394Ps of power and 354Nm of torque. Paired with the powerful engine will be a 7-speed automated manual transmission that will give the TT 2021 a top speed of around 250 kmph and an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in 3.6 seconds. While the TT 2021 is built for speed, Audi has ensured that the car comes with a number of safety features that include ESC or Electronic Stability Control, Panic Alarm, Driver-Assist Program, Occupant Sensing Airbags, and Four-Wheel, ABS. Even though we don’t know a lot about the Audi TT 2021, what we can expect is that the coupe will have a lot of people preparing their RC transfer papers when the car is launched.

KIA Stinger

If you are in the market for a premium sedan, we believe that the upcoming KIA Stinger is probably on the best options for you. However, you will have to wait a bit as the car is set to launch in April 2021 and with the current situation, we don’t know if that date will be pushed back further or not. Nevertheless, the Stinger is something worth waiting for. It looks absolutely stunning with sharp lines and curves that give it a sporty and aggressive look. Powering the Stinger will be a 2.0L petrol engine that generates 247Ps of power and 353Nm of torque. There will also be a GT variant of the Stinger which is a performance-based variant and that will come with a 3.3L Twin-Turbo V6 petrol engine that offer 370Ps of power with 510Nm of torque. Petrol engines are not the only option as KIA is also set to launch the Stinger with a single 2.2L diesel engine that will offer 200Ps of power and 440Nm of torque. All the engines will come with an 8-speed automatic transmission system and with Rear-Wheel-Drive as standard and All-Wheel-Drive as an option. The Stinger will also be feature-rich with some of them being a flat-bottom steering wheel, high-quality Nappa leather upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 7-inch digital touchscreen instrument cluster.

BMW 5 Series 2021

BMW’s 5 Series has always been a favourite in India as well as around the world. It carries the perfect combination of elegance, power, and stylish looks. Although we can expect only a few models form the upcoming 5 Series 2021 to reach Indian shores, we do have a lot to get excited about. The BMW 5 Series 2021 will now come with a choice between 3 different engines; a 2.0L Turbo-petrol, a 3.0L Turbo-petrol hybrid, and a 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 petrol. The 2.0L engine will generate 248Ps of power along with 258Nm of torque while the 3.0L engine is set to offer 335Ps of power with 332Nm of torque. Finally, the 4.4L V8 engine is expected to produce an impressive 523Ps of power with 553Nm of torque. All the engines will come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission system. BMW will be offering some of the latest features available on the 5 Series 2021, including WiFi hotspot, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and lane control assistance. The overall look of the new 5 Series has also changed a bit from its previous iterations with the front grille now getting taller and wider. There are also new “L” shape DRLs on the LED headlamps and the same “L” shape carries into the new LED taillights. The air dams in front have also gotten a bit bigger while the new alloy wheels now range from 18-20 inches in size. Being one of the most used cars from the BMW lineup, we can expect the new 5 Series 2021 to be an instant hit in India.

If the BMW i3 doesn’t make you reach for your RC transfer papers, I don’t know what will. This small completely EV from the German giants has already been made available in Europe and America and is ready to make its appearance in India in 2020. Firstly, the exteriors of the i3 are absolutely stunning – not only does it give the car a futuristic look, but it does so with style. On the front, the car is fitted with the same kind of kidney grille we have come to love BMW for while the U-shaped headlamps and indicators are comprised of LED lights. Although the car is quite small, BMW has put large 20-inch wheels on it which gives it better stability and grip on all types of roads. Even on the back, the car features LED taillights and turn indicators that surround the large bumper. One of the standout features though are the suicide doors that give the i3 instant attention. In terms of the interiors and features, the car has a 5.7-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay connectivity, reverse parking camera, and Active Cruise Control. Powering the i3 is a 33kWh Lithium-Ion battery that is attached to an 184PS electric motor and can take the car from 0-100km in 6.9 seconds with a maximum range of 280kms.

Tesla Model 3

The kind of popularity Tesla has gained over the past few years has given rise to the company finally bringing their electric models to India. The Model 3 from Tesla is one of the most popular cars in their lineup and is definitely going to turn heads in the country. With EVs already becoming extremely popular in India, we can expect that the Model 3 will also find the interest of the interested buyers. Powering the Tesla Model 3 is a 50kWh Lithium-Ion battery in the standard variant while the most powerful model houses a 75kWh Lithium-Ion battery. The battery offers a range of 354 Kms for the standard variant while the most powerful variant offers an impressive 534 Kms when fully charged. When charging the Model 3 using the AC charger, the time it takes is around 6.5 hours from 0-100 percent while the DC charger offers a 209 Kms in just 30 minutes. The Tesla Model 3 is capable of going from 0-100 Kmph in a quick 5.6 seconds. Some of the features on the Model S include a 15.4-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system that also works as a digital instrument cluster, a keyless NFC keycard, Bluetooth connectivity, parking cameras, and Autopilot Mode.
