Volkswagen India has been selling around 3,100 cars every month. Most of Volkswagen’s sales comes from the Virtus and Taigun, with Virtus leading the pack. But the Taigun seems to be catching up, and might surpass the Virtus soon. Here’s a list of the best selling Volkswagen cars in India over the past six months, including the latest data from July 2025.

For Volkswagen, the sedan is still on top of the pyramid, contributing a considerable amount of sales for Volkswagen in the country. It comes with two engine options — 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI. The Volkswagen Virtus rivals include Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

The Taigun comes a close second to the Virtus over the past six months. The Volkswagen Taigun has the same set of powertrains as the Volkswagen Virtus. The Volkswagen Taigun rivals include Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

There has been a new addition to the lineup of Volkswagen cars in India, with the introduction of the Golf GTI. However, the GTI isn’t a mass market car, and is imported as a CBU in limited units. A total of 198 units were dispatched over the last two months.

Volkswagen Tiguan

 

Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

 

Volkswagen sold 142 units of its flagship SUV in India over the past six months. The monthly dispatches took a steep incline as the previous Tiguan came to its end of life cycle. The German carmaker recently launched an updated version of the Tiguan in India — the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line — which is already available with discounts as high as Rs 3 lakh within months of launch.
