

Chery Jetour T2 receives 5-star safety score from ASEAN NCAP

The Chery Jetour T2 is expected to be JSW Motors’ first model in India. Its design has already been patented in the country, hinting that a launch could be on the horizon. The Jetour T2 was recently tested under the ASEAN NCAP safety program and achieved a five-star rating. The tested vehicle was the 2025 model from China, with a kerb weight of 1,870 kg and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine.
Chery Jetour T2 safety rating for adults under ASEAN NCAP
The Chery Jetour T2 scored 29.74 points for adult occupant protection in the ASEAN NCAP tests. In the frontal impact, it scored 13.74. The cabin stayed stable, and the driver’s chest was well protected, though the left lower leg only got marginal protection.

In the side impact test, the Head Protection Technology (HPT) worked well. Additional checks using the Fitment Rating System (FRS) gave it a score of 8 and the HPT itself also scored 8. The Jetour T2 comes with six airbags as standard. It also has seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters for both the driver and front passenger, adding another layer of safety.

Chery Jetour T2 child occupant score in ASEAN NCAP
The Jetour T2 also scored well in child occupant protection in the ASEAN NCAP tests, with a total score of 40.63 points. It performed strongly in the dynamic crash test and installation checks.

In the dynamic tests, two child dummies were used. An 18-month-old and a 3-year-old dummy were placed in a Joie Every Stage Fx child restraint seat. Both were installed in a rearward-facing position using an adult seatbelt.

The 18-month-old dummy scored 7.616 in the frontal impact and 4.000 in the side impact, giving it a total of 11.616. The 3-year-old dummy performed slightly better, scoring 8.000 in the frontal impact and 4.000 in the side impact, for a total of 12.000.

Chery Jetour T2 crash test results in safety assist
The Jetour T2 comes with several safety features as standard. These include Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, seatbelt reminders for the driver as well as front and rear passengers, and rear seat occupant detection.
The SUV can also be equipped with more advanced safety tech as optional features. These include Autonomous Emergency Braking for city driving, inter-urban conditions, and pedestrian detection. Other optional driver assistance systems include Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Keep Assist.

In the ASEAN NCAP safety assist assessment, the Jetour T2 recorded a total score of 18.00 points. It scored 6.00 points for effective braking and avoidance, 4.00 for seatbelt reminders, 3.00 for autonomous emergency braking, and 3.00 for advanced safety assist technologies.
Chery Jetour T2 motorcyclist protection score
The Jetour T2 scored a total of 13.00 points in the motorcyclist safety assessment. The biggest contribution came from the blind spot detection system, which scored 8.00 points. This feature monitors both the nearside and offside and comes standard on all variants.
The SUV also scored 2.00 points for pedestrian protection, which is also standard across the lineup. The headlight system added 1.00 points, with auto high beam available as an optional feature.
Under advanced motorcyclist safety technology, the Jetour T2 scored 2.00 points. This comes from the availability of Autonomous Emergency Braking for motorcycles, which is offered as an optional feature. However, the model scored 0.00 in rear visualisation, as an advanced rear visualisation system is not available on the Jetour T2.
