Outline

The Delhi Traffic Police has launched a new mobile app, enabling native citizens to report traffic violations online. While this works as a voluntary service to reduce traffic violations and promote safe driving, the Delhi Traffic Police has also incentivised the program, thereby further motivating the users to report violations on Delhi roads.

What is Delhi Traffic Prahari app?

The Delhi Traffic Prahari app is a mobile application launched by Delhi Traffic Police, which empowers the citizens to register and report traffic violations via the smartphone app. This app was first launched in the year 2015 but has been constantly updated with new features. Since 2024, it has received a significant boost in public participation, registering over 1,500 challans daily from citizen reports alone.

How does the Delhi Traffic Prahari app work?

Once registered on the app, users can upload photos and videos of traffic violations along with location and time of violations. These violations could include reckless driving, red-light jumping, wrong-side driving, illegal parking, road-rage, unsafe overtaking etc via the mobile app.

Once uploaded, the Delhi Traffic Police will examine the violations and issue challans to the violators based on the information provided by the citizens. Users can monitor the progress of their reports and may earn cash prizes if their submissions are confirmed.

This move will not only boost safe driving practices on roads but also incentivise the users via monthly rewards. Top monthly contributors will be awarded rewards ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. Depending on the number of reports a user submits, prizes include Rs 50,000 for first place, Rs 25,000 for second place, Rs 15,000 for third place, and Rs 10,000 for fourth place.
