Honda ZR-V hybrid coming to India — Everything you need to know before it launches
- 1Honda ZR-V launch in India is expected on May 22, 2026
- 2It is likely to be sold as a fully imported CBU vehicle
- 3Expected price range is Rs 40–50 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Honda ZR-V is a hybrid SUV that has been on sale in Japan and ASEAN markets since 2022. It sits below the Honda CR-V and shares its base with the Honda Civic. In some markets, a similar model is sold as the Honda HR-V, but the ZR-V is larger and positioned as a more premium offering.
With the Honda City facelift already confirmed for May 22, the ZR-V is also widely expected to make its India debut around the same time. At the moment, Honda sells just three models in India, the Honda Amaze, City, and Honda Elevate. The ZR-V will expand that lineup and is likely to be positioned as a halo product, showing a stronger push from Honda in the Indian market.
Upcoming Honda ZR-V exterior & dimensions

Compared to the Honda Elevate, the Honda ZR-V has a softer and more rounded design. The front gets an octagonal grille, slim LED headlamps, L-shaped DRLs, and a clean lower grille. The bonnet has a slight slope.
From the side, the design stays simple. It gets circular wheel arches, body-coloured mirrors and handles, and a smooth roofline that tapers towards the rear. At the back, there are wraparound LED tail lamps, dual exhaust tips, and a metallic-finished bumper. If launched in India, the overall design is expected to stay similar, with only minor updates.
In terms of size, it is clearly larger than the Elevate. It measures 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. Globally, it competes with models like the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Honda ZR-V Interior & features
The Honda ZR-V cabin is expected to follow a clean and simple layout. It may get a dual tone dashboard with a minimal design. Instead of a regular gear lever, it uses a button based selector on the centre console, similar to the Honda CR-V in global markets.
Key features are likely to include floating touchscreen, fully digital instrument cluster, 3 spoke steering wheel, dual zone climate control, powered driver seat, wireless charging, powered tailgate, rear AC, and more.

On the safety side, it is expected to come with Honda Sensing, which is the brand’s ADAS package. This includes features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. Along with this, it should also offer 6 airbags, hill hold assist, rear parking sensor, ABS with EBD, and 360 degree camera, among others.
Honda ZR-V engine specs
For India, the Honda ZR-V is expected to come only with the e:HEV hybrid setup. It pairs a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and an electric CVT gearbox. The combined output is around 180PS and 315Nm of torque. This is the same hybrid system used in models like the Honda Civic and Honda Accord.

A 1.5-litre turbo petrol with AWD is available in some global markets, but it is unlikely for India at launch. The hybrid version fits better with Honda’s positioning here. The ZR-V will also come as a CBU import, which means it will be fully built and shipped to India. This usually leads to higher pricing compared to locally assembled models.
Upcoming Honda ZR-V price & India launch
The Honda ZR-V is expected to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), with some variants possibly going up to Rs 60 lakh. The launch is expected around May 22, alongside the updated Honda City facelift.
Pricing will be the most important factor for the ZR-V. Honda’s earlier attempt with the Honda HR-V did not move forward mainly due to localisation limits and high cost. Since the ZR-V is coming as a full CBU import, it will sit in a niche premium space where volumes are smaller but gradually expanding.
