The Honda City has been one of India’s most trusted sedans for over two decades. It may not lead headlines like before, but it still has a loyal following. With new spy shots and a reported launch timeline, the 2026 facelift is now coming into focus.
Honda India is expected to unveil the updated City on May 22, 2026, alongside the ZR-V hybrid SUV. This will be the second update to the current fifth-generation City, which has been on sale since 2020 and last received a refresh in 2023. The next-generation model is reportedly not arriving until 2028. This facelift will play an important role in keeping the City competitive.
Here is a simple look at what to expect in terms of design, features, specs and price.
Upcoming Honda City facelift design — Not a complete makeover

The Honda City facelift exterior is expected to be a light refresh, not a full redesign. Based on spy shots and reports, the front could get a revised grille, updated bumper, and new LED headlight styling. Some reports also suggest the design may take cues from the Honda Civic, giving it a slightly more modern look.
The side profile is likely to remain unchanged, though new alloy wheel designs may be added. At the rear, small updates to the tail lamps and bumper are expected. Honda may also introduce a few new colour options.
2026 Honda City facelift interior & features
The upcoming City facelift interior is expected to get a few updates. These could be limited to a new interior theme, updated upholstery, and some small detail changes. The City facelift features are likely to include a 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats, which are now common in this segment.

The existing 8 inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected tech, digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, PM2.5 dust and pollen cabin filter, keyless entry, ambient lighting, and an 8-speaker system are expected to continue. There could also be a slightly larger or updated touchscreen, though this is not confirmed.
Honda City facelift safety features
The current Honda City already offers a Level 2 ADAS package through Honda Sensing. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking, and automatic high beam. These features are expected to continue in the facelift.
There is no clear confirmation yet on whether more ADAS features will be added. Standard safety features like multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors, hill assist, emergency stop signal, TPMS, immobiliser, brake assist, day and night IRVM, and electronic stability control are also expected to continue.

Upcoming Honda City facelift engine options

The 2026 Honda City facelift is not expected to get any engine changes. It will likely continue with the same two options. The 1.5 litre petrol engine produces 121PS and 145Nm, and comes with a 6 speed manual or a CVT. The 1.5 litre e:HEV strong hybrid combines a petrol engine with electric motors for a total of around 126PS, paired with an e CVT.
Honda City facelift price expectations
The current Honda City starts at Rs 12.07 lakh (ex-showroom). With new features in the facelift, a small price increase is expected. Final prices will be announced at the May 22 launch. The hybrid variant, priced at Rs 19.99 lakh, is also likely to see a slight upward revision. The facelift will continue to rival the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus.
