Hyundai posts highest-ever August domestic sales in 2026 — Up 23.6% YoY

Hyundai Motor India closed out August 2026 with its best-ever domestic sales figure for the month, moving 54,396 units and marking a 23.6% jump over the same period last year. Including exports, the company's total sales for August stood at 65,796 units, up 8.8% year-on-year, even as international shipments took a hit from disruptions outside the company's control.

Of Hyundai's total 65,796 units sold in August, the vast majority, 54,396 units, came from the domestic market, while the remaining 11,400 units were exported. The gap between domestic growth (23.6%) and overall growth (8.8%) points to a clear divergence this month.

Why Hyundai's export growth lagged in August 2026
Commenting on August 2026 sales results, Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO - HMIL, said, “We continue to sustain strong growth momentum in FY2027, with domestic sales growing by 12.6% YoY during the April-August period. Our August domestic sales of 54,396 units (+23.6% YoY), the highest-ever figure for any August month, reflect the popularity of Hyundai’s versatile product portfolio. While total exports in August were impacted by logistical constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geo-political environment during the month, we remain optimistic that export demand will continue to be strong in the coming months as the geo-political situation improves.”
