Jaguar has revealed the Type 01, a four-door electric grand tourer built on its new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). It is the first production model under the brand's new design approach and is described as an electric luxury GT.
With up to 1,030 PS, the Type 01 is the most powerful road car Jaguar has built so far. It is designed, engineered and built in the UK. Jaguar has not announced its price yet. Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with customer deliveries planned for later that year.
Jaguar Type 01 design and proportions
The Type 01 has a low roofline, short front overhang, long bonnet and extended rear overhang. It rides on 23-inch wheels and has a drag coefficient of 0.23, making it Jaguar's most aerodynamic car to date. Its shape was refined in a wind tunnel, while Active Vanes and a three-stage deployable rear spoiler help manage airflow.
The car is available in gloss and satin finishes. The Fender Ingot carries the Jaguar leaper emblem. The images released by the company show two colours: Visionary Silver and Compelling Blue. The name reflects Jaguar's history and its new direction. "Type" refers to earlier Jaguar models, "0" represents zero tailpipe emissions, and "1" marks the first car of a new generation.

The Type 01 uses three electric motors and Intelligent Torque Vectoring, which directs power to the wheels that can use it most effectively.

Jaguar says the Type 01 delivers strong acceleration even at higher speeds, with power in reserve. The car's driving character was developed with input from the Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E team.
Jaguar Type 01 range and charging
The Type 01 has a usable battery capacity of 118 kWh and an 850-volt electrical system. The high-voltage setup supports fast charging while reducing current and heat.

The WLTP range is Jaguar's estimate before full certification testing. Actual range will depend on driving style, weather, load and wheel size. Jaguar also says its data from 920,000 vehicles shows that up to 99.7% of journeys can be completed without a charging stop.
Jaguar Type 01 interior, screens and sound
The cabin is divided into four separate spaces by a central spine. Brass-effect anodised aluminium trim runs along both sides of the cabin, from front to rear. The driver gets a 24-inch single-glass OLED screen called the Interactive Driver Display. A separate seven-inch touchscreen between the front seats provides access to frequently used controls.
The Jaguar Immersive Sound System includes Sensory Audio seats and a full-width Panoramic Soundbar. Jaguar describes the soundbar as an automotive first.
Jaguar Type 01 technology and platform
The Type 01 uses a platform developed specifically for Jaguar. The company says the new architecture was needed to achieve the car's design and performance targets. More than 360 patent applications have been filed for the model, which Jaguar describes as its most technically advanced car so far. Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover says the Type 01 lays the foundation for the brand's reinvention. It is the first model in a new generation of Jaguar cars.
