Upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV spied testing — Top things to know

The Kia Carens Clavis ICE price was recently revealed in India, and at the same time, the carmaker is said to be testing the Clavis EV, which hints that its launch could be near. The EV was recently seen in Andhra Pradesh, and it looked almost identical to the ICE version, with only a few small changes.

The upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV is said to come in two variants and is anticipated to share its battery and motor setup with the Hyundai Creta Electric. With the launch expected soon, let’s take a closer look at what this new model might offer.

Upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV spied — Exterior & dimensions

The 7-seater Kia Clavis EV test mule’s silhouette looks quite similar to the ICE version. The spy shots also show that the roof-to-side design carries familiar elements. Apart from that, at the front, it is expected to get a closed-off grille, while the headlamp and tail-light setup is also said to stay mostly the same. Some of the changes include a new set of alloy wheels, EV badging, a charging port, and an ADAS radar module mounted at the front. 

Kia Carens Clavis EV dimensions are also expected to be similar to the ICE version, with a length of 4550mm, width of 1800mm, height of 1708mm, and a wheelbase of 2780mm.

Kia Clavis EV features

The Kia Carens Clavis Electric features list is expected to include twin 12.25-inch HD screens—one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument cluster. Other features are said to include a 4-way powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting, 8 Bose speakers, a 26.62-inch dual-pane panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, rain-sensing wipers, V2L and V2V charging, among others.

On the safety side, the upcoming 7-seater Clavis EV is expected to come with 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, parking sensors, TPMS, hill hold assist, ESC, all-wheel disc brakes, and a level 2 ADAS suite.

Upcoming Kia Carens Clavis electric battery

The Kia Carens Clavis electric is said to get similar battery specs as the Creta EV, which comes with two battery packs—42kWh and 51.4kWh—paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor. The smaller battery is claimed to offer a range of around 390km, while the bigger one could deliver up to 473km.  The Creta EV uses a single motor setup, available in two power outputs—135PS and 171PS.

Upcoming Kia Clavis EV launch and price

The upcoming Kia Carens Clavis launch is expected to take place in the second half of this year. At present, the ICE Clavis is priced between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 21.49 lakh. As for the Clavis Electric price, it is expected to fall somewhere in the range of Rs 19 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
