Kia Carens Clavis EV gets lifetime battery warranty — But there’s a catch

Kia India has introduced a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty for the Carens Clavis EV. The new warranty is aimed at addressing concerns about long-term battery life and replacement costs. It is effective from 1 August 2026 and covers the first owner of a new Carens Clavis EV for 15 years with unlimited kilometres.

What the Kia lifetime battery warranty covers

The warranty is available to the first owner of a personally used Carens Clavis EV retailed from 1 August 2026. It covers the high-voltage battery for 15 years with unlimited kilometres. However, the lifetime warranty does not apply to second owners or commercial vehicles such as taxis and fleet cars. For these vehicles, the standard battery warranty remains 8 years or 1,60,000 km, whichever comes first.

Can existing Kia Carens Clavis EV owners get this warranty too?

Existing owners who bought their Carens Clavis EV before 1 August 2026 can also extend their current 8-year/1,60,000 km battery warranty. The new cover extends it to 15 years with unlimited kilometres.

The extension is optional and costs a one-time administrative fee of Rs 3,400, including taxes. It is subject to the terms of the warranty extension programme and a vehicle evaluation. Owners can contact their Kia dealer to check their eligibility.

Why Kia is making this move

Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said the company wants to make EV ownership more accessible and dependable. He added that the lifetime battery warranty reflects Kia's confidence in its battery technology and also extends the benefit to eligible existing Carens Clavis EV owners.

For buyers, the longer warranty provides additional coverage as the vehicle gets older. It also addresses concerns about the cost of battery replacement after the standard warranty period ends.

Kia Carens Clavis EV gets wider charging and service support

The battery warranty adds to Kia's existing EV ownership options, including its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. Under BaaS, the vehicle and battery are financed separately, which reduces the upfront cost of the EV.

Kia also offers its K-Charge charging ecosystem through the MyKia app and Kia India's website. It brings together more than 20,300 charging points from 23 charge point operators on one platform. Owners can use it to find charging stations, navigate to them and make payments through a single wallet. The company also has more than 129 Kia dealerships with high-capacity DC fast chargers and over 275 EV-ready workshops. Kia's wider service network covers more than 900 customer touchpoints across 400 cities.
