Kia Syros EV India launch confirmed for 2026 — Launch timeline, battery,& more
- 1Kia has officially confirmed the Syros EV India debut for July 2026
- 2It will be Kia's second locally produced EV in India
- 3EV was first spotted testing on Indian roads back in August 2025
Kia India has made it official. The Syros EV will make its India debut in July 2026. The confirmation came through Kia's 2026 investor presentation and it marks a big step for the brand in its electric push in the country. This will be Kia's second locally manufactured EV for India and will take the total number of Kia EVs in the Indian market to four.
The Syros was launched as a petrol SUV in early 2025 but its sales numbers have not exactly set the charts on fire. The EV version could be the shot in the arm the model needs. With the sub-compact EV space in India heating up fast, the timing of the Syros EV launch looks deliberate and well thought out.
Kia Syros EV exterior and design — What the spy shots reveal

Back in August 2025, the Kia Syros EV was first spotted testing on Indian roads wrapped in heavy camouflage. A second sighting followed not long after when the car was spotted at an EV charging station, which itself confirmed a lot about the powertrain direction Kia was taking.
From what the spy shots revealed, the Syros EV will look very similar to the petrol Syros. That is not surprising. The ICE Syros was designed from the ground up to accommodate both a combustion and electric powertrain. Its flat front fascia is a design choice that is very much in keeping with EV styling philosophy. So the transition to an electric version does not require a radical rethink of the car's appearance.

The spy shots show the same LED headlights and taillights that you see on the standard Syros. The 17-inch alloy wheels also appear identical. The most visible change expected is in the grille area which on the EV will be blanked off or restyled in line with the typical closed-front design that EVs use. A small set of EV-specific badges and possibly different wheel designs would round off the exterior differences.
Kia Syros EV interior

Inside the cabin, the Syros EV is expected to stay largely the same as the petrol version with a few EV-specific additions. The biggest interior change could be a floating centre console similar to what Kia introduced on the Carens Clavis EV.
On the features front, expect the usual Kia premium load-out: dual-pane panoramic sunroof, front and rear ventilated seats, dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging and V2L functionality, among others

Kia Syros EV Battery and Range — Specs we are expecting
Kia has not officially confirmed powertrain numbers yet. But there is enough context to make a reasonably informed guess. The Kia Carens Clavis EV shares its battery packs with the Hyundai Creta Electric. Following that same logic, the Syros EV is expected to share its powertrain with the Hyundai Inster EV, which is the Hyundai model closest to the Syros in size and positioning.
The Hyundai Inster EV is offered globally with two battery options: a 42kWh and a 49kWh pack. For the India-spec Syros EV, a 42kWh battery paired with an electric motor producing 133bhp and 255Nm of torque is the most widely expected configuration. Whether Kia will also offer the larger 49kWh pack in India remains to be seen.
On range, charging speed and performance specifics, it is still too early to commit to numbers. Those details will come closer to the official reveal. What can be said is that if the Syros EV follows the Inster EV's global specs closely, it should offer a real-world range comfortably in the 300km to 350km bracket on a full charge.
Kia Syros EV production
The Syros EV is expected to be built at Kia's Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh where the Sonet, Seltos and the petrol Syros are already made. Local production will help Kia manage costs and keep the pricing competitive against locally assembled rivals.
Kia Syros EV India launch timeline & rivals

Kia has confirmed that the Syros EV will debut in July 2026. But it's important to understand that a debut usually means the official reveal of the car. The price announcement and sales typically happen a little later.
Based on Kia’s past launches, the reveal could take place at a press event or a motor show in July. Deliveries may begin the same month or soon after, likely by August 2026.
Once launched, the Syros EV will enter the growing sub-compact EV space. It is expected to compete with models like the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, among others.
Kia Syros EV price expectation
Kia Syros EV estimates from industry watchers put the Syros EV in the Rs 14 lakh to Rs 20 lakh range (ex-showroom). This would place it directly in competition with the Tata Nexon EV, which starts around Rs 14.5 lakh and goes up to around Rs 20 lakh for the top trim.
For Kia to make the Syros EV a strong seller, pricing will be key. It needs to be aggressive, especially at the entry level. A starting price around Rs 14 lakh could make it far more appealing than both the petrol version and rival EVs.
The top variant could go close to Rs 20 lakh, which is normal for this segment. But most buyers focus on base and mid variants, where value matters the most. Since the car will be built locally at the Anantapur plant, Kia can avoid heavy import costs. That gives it room to price the Syros EV competitively and not just position it as a premium option.
