Mahindra new platform teased — To be named Freedom_NU?

Just recently, an intriguing post appeared on Mahindra’s social media, sparking fresh curiosity about what’s new Mahindra is cooking. The automaker has teased its new platform—Freedom NU—and going by the dropped name, this could very well be what it officially launches as. The teaser is filled with cryptic visuals and subtle yet intentional hints at something big on the horizon.

Mahindra New Platform Teased — What's coming?

In the teaser, Mahindra has captioned: "Freedom gets a NU expression this Independence Day as we showcase a Bold NU vision for the future." Along with this, the carmaker has used three hashtags—#FREEDOM_NU, which is believed to be the official name of the platform, and both #MahindraAuto and #MahindraElectricOriginSUVs. 

These tags have sparked strong speculation that the platform could serve as the base for both ICE and EV models. That speculation only gets stronger as, toward the end of the teaser, Mahindra showcases both the Mahindra ICE model logo and the Mahindra logo they use in their EVs—a subtle but strong nod to dual compatibility. More broadly, it is expected that the new Mahindra platform will support petrol, diesel, electric, and potentially hybrid powertrains as well.

The Mahindra Freedom NU platform will be officially showcased on 15th August 2025, and we can expect more clarity and revelations on what Mahindra has in store for its bold new direction.

Mahindra new platform to come in future launches? — What’s in the pipeline

Currently, there’s a lot happening in Mahindra’s future launch pipeline, including the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, XEV 7e, XUV700 Facelift, 2025 Scorpio N, Thar 3-door facelift, and the new Bolero. There’s also ongoing talk about the launch of the Thar.e in the near future. It is speculated that the Mahindra new platform could also be used in the upcoming Bolero.

Over the past year, Mahindra has remained highly active in the market—introducing new models and strengthening its presence in the competitive landscape, whether through the launch of the Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6, or lifestyle-oriented variants like the Thar Roxx-like model.

Earlier too, Mahindra confirmed that the company will introduce seven ICE vehicles and five electric vehicles by 2030, so it’s clear that a lot more is on the way.
