Mahindra has launched the Thar OG in India as the successor to the three-door Thar that arrived in 2020. The new model starts at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 10.32 lakh, with deliveries set to begin on 11 October 2026. The Thar OG gets a new platform, more powerful engines, updated styling and more safety features. Mahindra says the Thar has sold more than 4 lakh units since its launch.
All-new Mahindra Thar Facelift price and variants in India
The facelifted Mahindra Thar is available in three trims: AXT, LXT and ZXT. It is offered with three engine options and both RWD and 4WD drivetrains. The base AXT trim is available only with the D117 CRDe diesel engine and RWD. The LXT and ZXT trims can be equipped with the D117 CRDe diesel, D22 mHawk diesel or G20 TGDi mStallion petrol engine, depending on the variant and drivetrain.
The table below shows the introductory ex-showroom prices. These prices are valid for bookings that are delivered by 30 November 2026, according to Mahindra.

All prices are ex-showroom and introductory. The AXT trim is offered only with the CRDe diesel engine and RWD.
2026 Mahindra Thar platform and ride quality
The Thar 2026 moves to Mahindra's new M_Glyde 4G platform, which is designed to improve structural stiffness and driving stability. It gets a new PENTALINK rear suspension with a Watts Link, a first for Mahindra's ladder-frame SUVs.
The SUV also gets DAVINCI Damping technology, which adjusts the damping response based on road conditions to improve ride comfort and control. Electric Power Steering makes low-speed manoeuvring easier, while additional insulation helps reduce noise inside the cabin.
New Mahindra Thar Facelift off-road capability
The new Mahindra Thar 3-door gets an Electronic Locking Differential on 4WD variants to help maintain traction when a wheel loses grip. These versions also get Terrain Modes for Mud, Sand and Snow. RWD versions with the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engines get Terrain Assist, which provides additional off-road support without the 4WD system.

Two of the three engine options get more power and torque than the outgoing Thar, while the entry-level D117 CRDe diesel continues with the same output.

Mahindra has not yet revealed transmission-specific fuel efficiency or 0-100 kmph figures for the updated engines. The D117 CRDe diesel continues with its existing state of tune and is mainly available with the base AXT trim.
All-new Mahindra Thar 2026 exterior design changes
The Mahindra Thar facelift gets a new front grille, LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lights and LED ice-cube fog lamps with a cornering function. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned, while the wider track gives the SUV a more planted stance. At the rear, it gets new LED tail lamps. Higher variants also get new R19 alloy wheels.
The Thar OG gets two new exterior colours: Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue. These join six existing colours, taking the total to eight. Mahindra has not yet revealed the names of all six carryover colours in its launch communication.

Inside, the new Thar gets Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery and a soft second-row armrest with a cupholder. The AXT trim gets the basic feature package, while the LXT and ZXT add more features.

3-door Mahindra Thar facelift safety features
Safety is one of the key updates on the Thar facelift. The range-topping ZXT gets six airbags, including four HPTS (Head Pelvis Thorax Shoulder) airbags for the front and rear occupants. The ZXT also gets disc brakes on all four wheels, an ESP 9.3 system with rollover mitigation, front parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Lower trims get dual airbags, ESP and front disc and rear drum brakes.
