Maruti Escudo India launch soon — Top things to know

In a bid to expand its share in the growing SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki gearing up to launch another SUV in the Indian market. The upcoming SUV—likely to be called the Escudo—is said to be launched under the Arena brand, joining the Brezza that currently is the only SUV under the affordable chain of dealerships of Maruti Suzuki. Upcoming Maruti Escudo design and positioning

The Maruti Escudo that has been spotted on several occasions seems to take design inspiration from the Grand Vitara, with details like split LED headlights and connected LED tail lights. However, since it is going to go on sale through the Arena range of dealerships, it will miss out on some Nexa signature design elements like the tri-dot LED signature as well as Nexa blue colour option.

The Maruti Escudo SUV is likely to sit between the Brezza and Grand Vitara and share the Global-C platform with its SUV siblings. Needless to say, it is likely to measure over four metres in length and compete with the likes of the C-segment SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and its own Nexa cousin—the Grand Vitara.

Upcoming Maruti Escudo expected features

The Maruti Escudo comes with loads of features, in addition to the ones that are already on offer on the Brezza. While the features list is not confirmed, we expect the Maruti Escudo features list to include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, automatic headlights and more. Notably, it is likely to be the first offering under the Arena brand to offer a panoramic sunroof.

2025 Maruti Escudo engine options

Like the Brezza, the Maruti Escudo is likely to come with the same tried and tested 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers a slew of other Maruti cars. This engine puts out 103PS of power and 138Nm of torque and comes coupled with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Furthermore, the Maruti Escudo CNG is also likely on the cards, carrying the same powertrain available on the Brezza and Grand Vitara CNG. However, the chances of Maruti Suzuki offering the Escudo hybrid are slim, resulting in a considerable position gap between the Escudo and the more premium Grand Vitara hybrid.

2025 Maruti Escudo India launch timeline

The Maruti Escudo India launch is likely to take place near the festive season, which is between August and October, 2025. Maruti Suzuki dealerships are likely to begin accepting unofficial bookings for the SUV in the coming months, whereas the official bookings could open on the launch day itself.
