Amid all automakers announcing their August 2024 sales, market leader Maruti Suzuki has also come out with its numbers. MSIL sold 1,43,075 passenger vehicles in the domestic market in August 2024, which was an 8.4% decline as compared to the number of vehicles sold in August 2023. Please note that the sales numbers stated above reflect the number of units dispatched to dealers and they might vary from the actual number of units sold by dealerships. Furthermore, these numbers include sales of both passenger vehicles as well as Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV). Maruti Suzuki has just one LCV on sale currently, the Maruti Suzuki Super Carry. This also includes the vehicles sold by MSIL to other OEMs, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited in this case.

MoM and YoY analysis

 

With reference to the data above, Maruti Suzuki India Limited saw a marginal increase in sales, both domestic and exports, when compared to the sales numbers from the previous month. But, year-on-year sales fell by 3.9% to 1,81,782 units. While the exports rose this year, domestic sales took a hit, resulting in this fall in total sales for the brand.

Maruti Suzuki passenger vehicle domestic sales 

 

In the month of August 2024, MSIL sold 1,43,074 cars in the Indian market, which indicated an 8.4% decline as compared to 1,56,114 units sold in the same month last year. Only the SUV segment saw an increase of roughly 4,000 units while the rest of the segments took a hit, including hatchbacks, sedans, as well as vans. Maruti has not yet released individual model-wise sales figures.
