Production of the MG Majestor has officially started at JSW MG Motor India’s Halol plant in Gujarat. Positioned as the company’s new flagship SUV, the Majestor will take on rivals in India’s premium body-on-frame SUV segment and is expected to sit above the Gloster.

MG Majestor engine and drivetrain

MG Majestor

The MG Majestor is powered by the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine found in the higher variants of the Gloster. It puts out 215PS and 478.5Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The SUV is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, with the 4WD variant getting a low-range transfer case and three locking differentials covering the front, centre, and rear axles. MG calls this the M-Hub system.

Beyond the hardware, the Majestor also comes with 10 different off-road drive modes covering Normal, Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, and more. There is also an M-Crawl function that manages throttle and braking automatically on low-speed technical terrain. The SUV rides on a high-tensile ladder frame chassis and has a claimed water wading depth of 810mm, which MG says is the highest in its segment.

MG Majestor exterior design

The Majestor is a big, bold, and deliberately imposing machine. MG describes it as the tallest, widest, and longest SUV in its segment, measuring 5,046mm in length, 2,016mm in width, and 1,870mm in height on a 2,950mm wheelbase. The front end is dominated by a Mosaic Matrix grille flanked by sharp Dragon Eye LED DRLs and Tri-Beam headlamps. The rear gets connected LED tail lamps and a twin exhaust setup. Dual-shade 265/55 R19 alloy wheels round out the exterior look.

MG Majestor interior, features, and safety

Inside, the MG Majestor comes with a premium cabin layout and offers both 6-seat and 7-seat options. Features include leather upholstery, ambient lighting, ventilated and massage front seats, a powered driver seat with memory function, and 3-zone climate control.

The SUV also gets a large touchscreen with MG’s connected car features, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless chargers, remote AC control, and a JBL sound system. On the safety front, the top variant comes with Level 2 ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. Other safety features include 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, hill hold and descent control, and electronic parking brake.

MG Majestor variants and prices

The MG Majestor is offered in two variants. The Sharp 4x2 rear-wheel-drive version is priced at Rs 40.99 lakh, while the top-spec Savvy 4x4 variant with four-wheel drive is priced at Rs 44.99 lakh (both ex-showroom).
