MG Majestor Overview: A Commandingly Large Premium SUV

Rather than just offering small, negligible upgrades, MG Motors has instead made a vehicle that stands out on the road with its sheer size. Measuring 5,046 mm in length and over 2,000 mm in width, the fresh MG Majestor SUV is quite visibly the longest and widest vehicle in its immediate class. The body design also means there’s more interior volume.

Under the bonnet, MG has equipped the car with its proven 2.0L twin-turbo diesel powertrain and the 8-speed automatic transmission. Both work together to keep the heavy SUV moving through different transit challenges from daily urban commutes to cross-country highway runs. The chassis sits on a double wishbone front and five-link integral rear suspension, so there’s some high ride comfort tagging along as well.

The recent MG Majestor launch date in India revealed that this efficient 7-seater is not only a capable family haulier on weekend trips, but also has a loaded tech kit. It has a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, and for safety, it gets Level 2 ADAS. On top of that, should you guide the car towards unexplored, uneven trails, its M-Hub 4x4 suite doesn’t disappoint.

The current MG Majestor price in India offers only one fully loaded Savvy trim.

Because of the torque-heavy engine, buyers won’t find much to complain about the performance of this car.

2.0L Twin Turbo Diesel

With 212.5 bhp and 478.5 Nm of torque, the diesel engine makes sure that the heavy SUV never feels lethargic. Power travels down through an 8-speed automatic transmission; this gearbox shifts predictably and doesn’t struggle between gear ratios. The delivery is progressive, which helps out with steep inclines or rapid highway overtakes (especially when with a cabin full of passengers).

Driving Modes & M-Hub Off-Road Tech

For regular roads, drivers can toggle between Sport, Normal, and Eco drive modes to change the throttle’s responsiveness. The steering wheel itself has three distinct weighting modes that the driver can check out and see which works best.

But the car’s real highlight is in the 4x4 variant, i.e., the M-Hub off-road suite. There’s a robust 4-wheel drive system fitted here; it has 10 specialised off-road modes for mud, sand, snow, and rock. There’s a segment-first triple differential lock system, too. It locks the front, centre, and rear, and works with the M-Crawl function to balance out braking and throttle inputs over deeply rutted or slippery trails.

Despite the physical footprint, the MG Majestor keeps its ride quality compliant and comfortable.

City Driving

For some, moving a vehicle of this size around tight city corners will feel intimidating, but the SUV handles its dimensions with practical tech. The electric power steering listens to driver input continuously, making tight parking manoeuvres as manageable as possible. The suspension handles speed breakers and potholes fairly well. There’s also a standard 360-degree high-definition camera that makes parking and navigation more convenient for drivers.

Highway Driving

This vehicle is actually more of a grand tourer. The heavy ladder-frame chassis and the double wishbone front suspension offer straight-line stability, and wind and road noise do not disturb its occupants, thanks to an acoustic windshield and high cabin insulation. The 8-speed automatic transmission settles into a low RPM cruise, allowing the twin-turbo diesel to cover long distances effortlessly. Body roll is, however, felt around very fast corners.

Clearly, MG Motors didn’t want to complicate the buying process, keeping the available trims distinct from each other mostly by their seating layout and drivetrains.

Savvy 4x2 (6-Seater and 7-Seater)

Sitting at the base MG Majestor price, buyers get 19-inch dual-shade alloy wheels, a Galaxy View roof, and full Level 2 ADAS integration in the 4x2. Inside, the MG Majestor interior keeps the 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL Studio 12 audio, and ventilated, massaging front seats. You can either pick the standard 7-seater bench layout or the highly comfortable 6-seater configuration.

Savvy 4x4 (7-Seater)

The flagship 4x4 variant is for those who want to take their vehicle off the beaten path. All the interior tech and luxury of the 4x2 model remains, along with the highly advanced M-Hub 4-wheel-drive system. It gets triple differential locks, 10 off-road modes, and the M-Crawl feature; these are features that practically make the SUV's capability to traverse uneven terrain better.

Fuel frugality is not a strength of the MG Majestor. However, with the 75L fuel tank, owners can still cover some reasonable long-distance kilometres before stopping at a petrol pump.

This SUV has an undeniable road presence. It’s nothing like those traditional boxy crossovers.

Front Profile

The front fascia houses an expansive Mosaic Matrix Grille flanked by sharp Dragon Eye DRLs. Tri Beam LED headlamps with dual projectors and a mono reflector to ensure high night-time visibility are present here. Also, there’s a front guard plate adding some extra ruggedness.

Side Profile

The length and wheelbase are immediately apparent from this angle. The 19-inch dual-shade multispoke alloy wheels stand out. Other exterior highlights include side steppers, piano black door handles, dark window line garnish, functional roof rails, and ORVM puddle lamps.

Rear Profile

At the back, the vehicle has connected LED tail lamps that stretch across the tailgate. The bumper houses rear fog lamps as well, alongside a skid plate and dual exhaust tips. You can also kick the powered tailgate open to load luggage in.

A lounge-like ambience greets you once you take a step inside the MG Majestor SUV.

Front Row

The dashboard and door panels feature soft-touch leather layering with carbon fibre inserts and brushed aluminium trim. The driver receives a 12-way power-adjustable seat with 4-way lumbar support and a two-setting memory function, while the co-driver enjoys an 8-way powered seat. Both front seats are ventilated and feature multi-mode massage functions.

Second Row

Occupants in the middle row can choose between a standard 7-seater bench or individual 6-seater captain seats in the 4x2 variant. These seats have sliding and reclining functions so that legroom can be customised. Passengers also get a dedicated 3-zone automatic climate control system with roof-mounted AC vents, a PM 2.5 filter, and a 220V power outlet for charging laptops.

Boot Space, Storage & Practicality

The second row in the 7-seater features a 60:40 split setup that folds flat into the floor, which opens up a large, flat cargo area for family luggage. Cabin practicality is further made more convenient with six cup holders, four bottle holders, a sunglass holder, and hidden storage under the front armrest.

Two 12.3-inch screens take up the dashboard space inside this car. One’s a fully digital instrument cluster for driver telemetry and the other’s an HD touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto exist, and there’s a JBL Studio 12-speaker audio system.

The i-SMART connected car platform supports over 30 Hinglish voice commands, voice interaction in 6 regional languages (including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, and English), remote climate control, live location tracking, and JioSaavn music integration. Drivers can also use a digital Bluetooth key with key-sharing capabilities and receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Finally, ambient lighting with 64 colour choices and a large Galaxy View glass roof overhead completes the premium cabin environment of the MG Majestor.

No safety rating is available for the MG Majestor, since Bharat NCAP, Euro NCAP, or Global NCAP haven’t tested it yet. But it does have a high-strength chassis with digital protective systems.

Passive Safety

Passive protection includes 6 airbags. There are full-length curtain airbags that extend all the way to the third row. The vehicle also comes with ISOFIX child seat anchorages, all-seat belt reminders, and double-stage pretensioners for the front seatbelts.

Active Safety

Active driving safeguards include all-four disc brakes, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Roll Movement Intervention (RMI), Hill Hold Control, and Hill Descent Control. A Driver Fatigue Warning System constantly monitors driving inputs to suggest rest stops. Level 2 ADAS is present, hosting some important features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Departure Prevention.

The MG Majestor price in India competes with full-size, three-row luxury SUVs in the ₹30.00 lakh to ₹50.00 lakh segment, such as the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq.

Toyota Fortuner

For resale value, the Toyota Fortuner edges ahead. It also has that unbeatable mechanical durability that makes it a worthy owner of the ₹34.76-50.46 lakh price tag. However, the MG Majestor SUV arrived in India with a much larger footprint, far more cabin tech, superior third-row space, etc.

Jeep Meridian

Starting at ₹23.33 lakh, the Jeep Meridian has a very refined ride quality and strong high-speed driving feedback. The Majestor MG justifies its higher price tag against the Meridian with its potent twin-turbo diesel engine, far greater boot capacity, and triple differential locks for heavy off-road use.

Skoda Kodiaq

The Skoda Kodiaq is for buyers seeking European car dynamics and smooth petrol performance, sitting at around ₹36.99 lakh. In contrast, the MG Majestor SUV offers the diesel powertrain with higher low-end torque, greater overall interior space, and a more commanding road presence.

Like every other vehicle on the market, the MG Majestor has both many hits as well as some practical misses.

ProsCons
The expansive physical dimensions (over 5 metres long) and generous wheelbase mean there’s a lot of interior space.Tight urban lanes and crowded basement parking spots can be quite challenging to navigate with this car.
The 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine handles smooth, low-stress highway cruising even with a full load of passengers and luggage.Real-world fuel efficiency of the MG Majestor is actually quite low, especially during heavy city traffic crawls.
The M-Hub off-road hardware has triple differential locks, 10 terrain modes, and M-Crawl, features that make off-roading better. The soft, comfort-oriented suspension tuning works well inside the city, but it introduces body roll on highway corners.
The feature-packed cabin houses ventilated massage seats, 12.3-inch screens, JBL Studio 12 audio, and 64-colour ambient lighting. No petrol or hybrid powertrain options; they could have actually lured those urban buyers who want lower running costs.

If the goal is to pick up a commanding, feature-loaded full-size SUV that makes no compromises on space and luxury, the MG Majestor is one of those SUVs worth a look. Off-road capability is also handled well with the generous three-row seating, soft leather upholstery, and ventilated massage seats. In perspective, it’s a very practical car for long-distance family road trips.

But buyers who drive often in congested city traffic or want high fuel efficiency may not like how the car performs on both fronts. Also, one of its rivals, the Toyota Fortuner, offers higher long-term resale value, while another, the Skoda Kodiaq, provides punchier petrol driving dynamics. If those factors don’t decide your purchase, and you only care about owning a technology-packed SUV with serious off-road capability, the MG Majestor is a sensible pick.
