SAVWIPL has issued a voluntary recall for a total of 860 units of the Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia, over a potentially cracked metal base frame of the rear seatbelts, and an incorrect part installation in the front and/or rear seatbelts. This is a safety issue and could result in harmful consequences in the event of an accident. The cars that are part of this recall have been manufactured between December 1, 2021, and May 31, 2025.

Skoda’s sister brand Volkswagen has also issued a similar recall for the Tiagun and Virtus models, which are fundamentally the same cars as the Kushaq and Slavia, respectively.

It is expected that Skoda India will soon reach out to you if your car’s affected. Alternatively, you can enter the VIN number of your car on Skoda Auto India’s official website and check if your car is affected by this issue. Contracting your nearest Skoda dealership might be another alternative. The redressal would naturally be done for no cost to the owners.

Official statement

There hasn’t been any official public statement from either of the manufacturers yet, and they are expected to at least individually reach out to the owners of the affected cars and address the issue. The aforementioned models have been repeatedly recalled by the manufacturer for one reason or another, and this does pay a toll on the brand’s perception among existing as well as prospective customers. The carmaker should pay more heed to quality checks and ensure that future models aren’t affected by, at least, the same issue or any other potentially hazardous issue.
