Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. recorded total sales of 2,01,723 units in the domestic and international markets in Q2 FY27 (July-September 2026). This is compared with 1,44,397 units in Q2 FY26, marking a 40% year-on-year growth. The company said this was its highest-ever quarterly performance, driven mainly by record EV and CNG sales.

In September 2026 alone, Tata's total sales, including domestic and international business, stood at 70,210 units. This was up 15% from 60,907 units sold in September 2025.

 

Of this, PV domestic sales stood at 68,810 units, up 15% year-on-year. International business (IB) sales reached 1,400 units, up 13%. EV sales, including domestic and international markets, stood at 15,384 units, a 67% increase from 9,191 units in September 2025.

Tata also crossed the 70,000-unit monthly sales mark in September. The company said this was a strong way to end the quarter ahead of the festive season.

 

Q2 FY27 — Tata's highest-ever quarter

 

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sold 2,01,723 units in Q2 FY27, compared with 1,44,397 units in Q2 FY26. This translates to a 40% year-on-year growth. PV domestic sales for the quarter stood at 1,96,674 units, up 40%, while PV IB sales reached 5,049 units, up 20%. Tata said this was higher than the overall industry growth, with Vahan volumes increasing by around 24% year-on-year during the same period.

EVs and CNG now half of Tata's sales

 

Tata's EV and CNG models were among the main drivers of growth during the quarter. EV sales reached a record quarterly total of more than 47,000 units, up 90% year-on-year. EVs accounted for 23% of Tata's total sales, compared with around 8% for the overall industry.

CNG models also recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales in Q2 FY27 and accounted for 28% of Tata's total volumes. Combined, EV and CNG models made up 51% of Tata's total sales during the quarter.

 

The company said this shows a growing preference among customers for vehicles with greener powertrains.

Tata said customer response remained strong across its portfolio during the quarter, with the Punch becoming India's highest-selling SUV. After its Q1 launches, Tata further expanded its lineup with the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and the all-new Tata Aeris. The company also introduced its new customer-facing brand identity, TATA.CARS, during the quarter. Tata said the new identity reflects the changing needs and preferences of Indian car buyers.

Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said passenger vehicle demand continued to remain strong in Q2 FY27 following the momentum seen after GST 2.0. He added that this came despite the quarter being seasonally softer, with industry Vahan volumes growing around 24% year-on-year.

 

He called Q2 FY27 Tata's highest-ever quarter, with sales growing 40% year-on-year, ahead of the overall industry. He also highlighted the company's September sales crossing the 70,000-unit monthly mark.

Chandra said EV and CNG models continued to be important growth drivers, with EV penetration rising to 23% and CNG recording its highest-ever quarterly sales. He added that Tata remains positive about the upcoming festive season, supported by a strong order book and healthy customer demand across its range.

 

As production is increased gradually, the company will focus on meeting this demand and strengthening its position in the market.
