Tata Harrier EV safety rating revealed — Achieves five stars in BNCAP

Tata Motors continues its streak of five-star-rated cars and the latest addition to the list is the recently-launched Harrier EV. The Tata Harrier EV has scored five stars in both adult and child occupant safety in the latest Bharat NCAP crash test. Read on to know more details about the Tata Harrier safety rating.
Tata Harrier EV safety rating details
The Tata Harrier EV archives a full score (32/32 points) in the Adult Occupant Protection test, making it the only SUV other than the Mahindra XEV 9e to achieve full points in the AOP test. Speaking of the child occupant protection, the Harrier EV scored 45 points out of 49 points in the test. Furthermore, the Harrier EV was rated as stable in the side pole impact crash test, further solidifying its safety quotient.

Tata Harrier EV adult occupant safety test details
The Harrier EV has achieved a perfect score of 32 points in adult occupant protection, making it only the second SUV to do so in BNCAP crash tests. The only other SUV with this distinction is its main competitor, the Mahindra XEV 9e. Notably, both the driver and passenger crash test dummies showed ‘good’ protection across all body regions — a rare feat in NCAP assessments. Additionally, the Harrier EV received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.
Tata Harrier EV child occupant safety test details
In child occupant protection, the Harrier EV scored 45 out of a possible 49 points—matching the performance of its rival, the Mahindra XEV 9e. It achieved full marks in both the dynamic test (24/24) and the CRS installation test (12/12), while earning 9 out of 13 points in the vehicle assessment category. Crash tests were conducted using 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies placed in rearward-facing child seats on the front passenger seat, secured with ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. The Harrier EV is equipped with ISOFIX mounts on the two outer rear seats, though it lacks an integrated child restraint system.

Tata Harrier EV safety features
Bharat NCAP tested the top-spec Empowered 75 and Empowered 75 AWD variants of the Harrier EV, but the safety ratings are applicable across the entire Harrier EV lineup. Standard safety features include six airbags (seven on the Fearless and Empowered variants), three-point seatbelts with reminders for all occupants, ESC, ISOFIX mounts on the rear outboard seats, and a passenger airbag deactivation switch. The Harrier EV also meets AIS-100 pedestrian protection standards. Additionally, the top-tier Empowered trim is equipped with an ADAS suite.
