Outline

Tata Motors has fully revealed the exterior design of the Sierra EV with a new promotional video released on 24 June 2026, six days ahead of its official launch scheduled for June 30. Unlike previous teasers that focused on the dual-motor QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) powertrain, this one drops all camouflage and offers the clearest look yet at the production car.

The video also teases a dune-climbing attempt at Tal Moreeb in the UAE, one of the tallest sand dunes in the world, to demonstrate the Sierra EV's off-road capability.

How the upcoming Tata Sierra EV's design compares to its ICE counterpart

The Upcoming Tata Sierra EV takes the same approach Tata has used with its other ICE-to-EV conversions. The overall silhouette, profile, and rear end remain nearly identical to the petrol-powered Sierra. The primary changes are at the front. A body-coloured blanked-off grille replaces the functional blacked-out unit on the ICE version. The LED light bar at the front is retained, but the 'Sierra' lettering that sits just below it on the ICE model has been removed on the EV. The bumper gets a gloss-black finish and a faux silver skid plate on the chin, and the colour treatment is essentially reversed compared to the standard Sierra.

In profile, the only differentiation comes from 'Sierra.ev' badges on the front doors and the tailgate. The 19-inch alloy wheels remain unchanged from the ICE version. The Sierra EV is likely to get new colour options at launch, including a silver shade seen in the latest promotional imagery.

What to expect from the Tata Sierra EV mechanically

Tata Sierra EV

Tata has confirmed a dual-motor QWD setup for the 2026 Tata Sierra EV, mirroring the all-wheel-drive configuration seen on the Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is expected to share its underpinnings closely with the Harrier EV, using similar battery options. Industry expectations point to 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack choices, with prices likely ranging from approximately Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). The interior details have not been officially revealed yet, but Tata's typical approach suggests a cabin that broadly mirrors the ICE Sierra with EV-specific instrument graphics and powertrain displays.

Tal Moreeb dune climb teaser

The new promotional video was shot around the Tal Moreeb dunes in Liwa Oasis in the UAE. Tal Moreeb, sometimes called 'Scary Mountain', rises over 300 metres with gradients of up to 50 degrees. It is a well-known venue for extreme off-road events and motorsport challenges. Tata's decision to film the Sierra EV there is a deliberate statement about its AWD traction and torque delivery capability, reinforcing the off-road angle that the Sierra name has historically carried.
