Outline

Amid Nissan’s active push to grow its lineup in India, the company has announced plans to launch two new SUVs. Along with that, Nissan is also preparing to bring a new MPV based on the Renault Triber. The pre-production of this Triber-based Nissan MPV has already started, and it is likely to be called the Gravite. The launch timeline for this new Nissan MPV has also been confirmed by the brand. Let’s continue reading below for a closer look at where this Triber-based model will stand in the market and what it might bring to the table.

Upcoming Triber-based Nissan MPV launch timeline

Upcoming Nissan MPV

The teaser images of the Triber-based Nissan MPV were shared on social media, showing only the front part of the vehicle. The design appears slightly boxier and bolder. It is expected to come with a wide front grille, stylish headlamps, and a muscular shoulder line. However, the final look is yet to be revealed.

The upcoming Nissan MPV launch timeline has also been confirmed by the carmaker, with the launch scheduled for the first quarter of next year, somewhere between January and March 2026.

Upcoming Nissan MPV under the hood

Shedding light on it, this upcoming model will be the first MPV in the carmaker’s current lineup and will be built on the same platform as the Renault Triber. Just like the Triber, which focuses on affordability for larger families, Nissan also seems to be taking a similar route to grab the attention of buyers in this segment.

The Renault Triber comes with a 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Under the hood, the Nissan MPV is also likely to come with a 1.0L petrol engine, while there is also some expectation for a 1.0L turbo petrol engine.

Upcoming Nissan cars India launch timeline revealed

There has been a lot of movement and headlines around Nissan in the past few days and weeks. One major development is Renault taking over Nissan’s stake in the Renault-Nissan India joint venture, officially known as Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL). Another story that gained attention—mainly driven by online rumours—was about Nissan possibly shutting down its manufacturing plants globally, including in India, which led to speculation about the company’s exit. This has been clearly debunked by the carmaker.

As I have mentioned above, Nissan has actually shared its upcoming plans, which include two new SUVs—one based on the Renault Duster, and the other a 7-seater version of the same Renault Duster-based SUV model. As for the third model, the Triber-based MPV, I’ve already broken that down earlier above. The company will manufacture all these new products locally at the Alliance JV plant in Chennai. Notably, Nissan has also shared its aim of reaching an impressive target of a lakh units in both annual domestic sales and exports from India.
