Upcoming cars in India in August 2025 — First VinFast SUVs incoming!

The month of July 2025 was quite eventful, with a distinct bunch of new car launches like that of the MG Cyberster, MG M9, Tata Harrier.ev, and the Renault Triber facelift. August also promises to be happening, with key launches like that of VinFast’s first SUVs, and showcases of Mahindra’s concept SUVs planned for the month. Here’s a list of the upcoming cars in India in August 2025.

Volvo XC60 facelift

Expected starting price: Rs 72 lakh (ex-showroom)

Launch date: August 1, 2025

Following the launch of the facelifted XC90 SUV, the smaller XC60 is getting a facelift that will be launched in India on August 1, 2025. Just like its elder sibling, it isn’t likely to get any powertrain changes, and updates are expected to be limited to exterior and interior tweaks, along with a couple of added features. 

Mahindra concept SUVs

Showcase date: August 15, 2025

Mahindra is going to showcase four new concept SUVs at this year’s Independence Day, namely Vision X, Vision T, Vision S, and Vision SXT. There’s no confirmation from the carmaker as to what these concepts will be, though we speculate that they might be the Mahindra XUV700 electric, Mahindra Thar electric, Mahindra Scorpio Pik-Up, and another rugged off-road focused SUV.

VinFast VF6

Expected starting price: Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom)

VinFast has opened its first showroom in India, and it is planning to launch its first cars in August 2025. The VF6 is the smaller of the two SUVs that will mark the carmaker’s entry into the Indian market, and will go against other similar EVs like the Tata Curvv EV and MG Windsor EV.

VinFast VF7

Expected starting price: Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom)

The VF7 is VinFast’s flagship SUV, and is expected to be priced northwards of Rs 25 lakh, pitting it against electric SUVs like the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Harrier EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the MG ZS EV. Bookings for the VF6 and VF7 have already commenced.

Mercedes-AMG CLE 53

Launch date: August 12, 2025

Expected starting price: Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom)

Mercedes-Benz India is ready to add another car to its AMG lineup in India with the launch of the new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe. The CL3 53 gets a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six petrol engine mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system, a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and Mercedes’ 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.

MG Majestor

Expected starting price: Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom)

MG showcased a facelifted version of the Gloster SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, which it called the MG Majestor. The Majestor is expected to be launched in August, and is likely to be positioned above the Gloster, with both SUVs being available for sale concurrently. 

Renault Kiger facelift

Expected starting price: Rs 6.3 lakh (ex-showroom)

Following the recent launch of the Renault Triber facelift, the Renault Kiger facelift India launch is expected to take place in August 2025. While there aren’t any changes expected on the powertrain front, the updated SUV will see exterior and interior tweaks, and is also likely to get a few new features.
