The Urus has been the best-selling model for the Italian supercar manufacturer globally, and things aren’t too different in India. We recently witnessed the launch of the Urus SE as well, expanding the lineup with the model’s most powerful iteration. While an electric version of the SUV was also expected to be introduced in the next few years, plans for the same have now reportedly been delayed, amidst declining demand for high-end electric vehicles. As per a report by Autocar UK, the second generation of the Urus SUV will continue to be offered in a plug-in-hybrid format, rather than an all-electric one. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO, Lamborghini, confirmed that the second-gen Urus will be launched in the year 2029, while the Urus EV will arrive much later in 2035.

First electric Lamborghini car

Notably, the Urus won’t be the first all-electric car to come out of Sant’Agata. The carmaker’s first electric model is set to be a production version of the Lanzador GT concept. The car is likely to be launched in 2029, which is also a year later than its earlier expected timeline.
