Upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift spotted — Top things to know

The Mahindra Thar facelift has been spotted on test for the first time, wearing heavy camouflage at the front profile. 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift spotted

The Mahindra Thar facelift features an all-new front end, with a slot-like radiator grille similar to that of the Thar Roxx. While covered with heavy camouflage, we expect the new Thar facelift to offer circular LED headlights like the Thar Roxx. Other changes on the exterior could include LED fog lights, new set of 18-inch alloy wheels, new LED tail lights and reprofiled bumpers.

Mahindra Thar facelift interior

Changes on the inside are far more significant than that on the outside. To begin with, the dashboard of the Thar facelift now features the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The updated model could also feature automatic climate control in place of manual AC that’s offered with the current Thar. Another perceptible change on the inside the new steering wheel, that’s already seen in SUVs like the Thar Roxx, Scorpio N and XUV700. Mahindra could also offer new additions such as a different leatherette seat upholstery and a wireless smartphone charger.

2025 Mahindra Thar powertrain details

The powertrains are unlikely to see any major change, and we expect the same set of options to be carried on the new Mahindra Thar. These include a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual, a 2.2-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor. While the smaller diesel engine is only offered in an RWD configuration, the bigger diesel engine comes with 4WD, and the petrol engine can be specced in either of the two configurations.

Mahindra Thar facelift launch timeline

Since we have begun to see the sightings of the Thar facelift, we expect its launch to take place in the coming months. In most likelihood, the Mahindra Thar facelift launch could take place sometime around the festive season of the year 2025.
