Outline

VinFast has updated the exterior colour palette on both the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India. The update is purely cosmetic, with no changes to features, specifications or pricing on either model. Two existing shades have been dropped in favour of darker alternatives. A brand-new colour has been introduced across both cars.

The Crimson Red and Urban Mint colours have been discontinued for both the VinFast VF6 and VF7. They have been replaced by Solar Red and Ivy Green, which are more darker versions of the red and green shades. VinFast has also added a new Moonlight Ocean colour.

With these changes, both the VF6 and VF7 are now available in seven exterior colour options, up from six earlier. The updated colour range includes Infinity Blanc, Jet Black, Zenith Grey, Solar Ruby, Desat Silver, Moonlit Ocean and Ivy Green.

VinFast VF 6 specifications & dimensions

The VinFast VF 6 comes with a 59.6kWh battery pack and a front-wheel-drive system. The Earth variant gets a 177 PS motor, while the Wind and Wind Infinity variants use a more powerful 150kW (204PS) motor. The claimed MIDC range is 468km for the Earth variant and 463km for the Wind variants.

The VF 6 can charge from 10 to 70% in around 25 minutes using a DC fast charger. It measures 4,241mm in length, has a 2,730mm wheelbase and offers 190mm of ground clearance. The SUV also gets a 423-litre boot.

VinFast VF 7 specifications & dimensions

The VinFast VF 7 offers more powertrain options than the VF 6. The Earth and Wind variants use the same 59.6kWh battery as the VF 6. The Earth gets a 177PS motor, while the Wind gets a 204PS motor. The claimed range varies between 438km and 532km, depending on the variant and drivetrain.

The top-spec Sky and Sky Infinity variants get a larger 70kWh battery with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. This system produces 353PS and 500Nm of torque. It can take the SUV from 0- 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, while the claimed range is up to 532km.

The VF 7 can charge from 10 to 70% in around 28 minutes using a DC fast charger. It measures 4,550mm in length, has a 2,840mm wheelbase and 190mm of ground clearance. It also offers a 537-litre boot.

The Vinfast VF 7 base variant is now priced at Rs 21.89 lakh, following a Rs 1 lakh increase. The higher trims have seen bigger jumps: the VF7 Wind is up by Rs 1.20 lakh, Wind Infinity by Rs 2.20 lakh, and Sky Infinity by Rs 1.30 lakh. Interestingly, the VF7 Sky has had the smallest increase, just Rs 20,000, making it the most modest hike among the range.

The VF 6 continues to be priced from Rs 17.29 lakh, ex-showroom, while the VF 7 starts at Rs 21.89 lakh, ex-showroom. Both models compete in India's growing electric SUV space, with the VF 6 going up against the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, while the VF 7's AWD variant puts it in more direct contention with the Tata Sierra EV.

With the mechanical package and pricing left untouched, this update is really about giving buyers a bit more visual variety when picking their VF 6 or VF 7, without changing anything about what the cars actually offer underneath.
